I did not. Most of my news comes from the radio so I hear the word and it just makes me think of this.

 

I do not like her politics in the same way I disagree with Jacob Rees-Mogg, Michael Gove or Andrea Leadsom but this was not a comparison.

 

However I appreciate your warning and will not try the same gag on Facebook or Twitter. Here the audience is, for the most part, more nuanced

I don't get a vote but in terms of policies RLB is the closest to my position. What do those people who supported Corbyn and distrusted Blair do if Nandy or Starmer win? Do they stay with Labour and fight for the socialist policies recognising that the 'Left' has to be united to defeat the far right the Conservatives have become or do they abandon ship.

 

When Blair was PM the Lib Dems under Kennedy seemed to be to the Left of Blair so provided a natural shelter but the current Lib Dems are now viewed as Conservative enablers.

 

Are the Greens the only alternative?

I was once harassed by the SWP guys outside the QMU at Glasgow Uni, trying to get me to sign up for their newsletter and in general being a roadblock between me and my route to whisky. Need to get rid of Corbyn obvious. Just Labour love really long contests while the Tories get on stitching up their own contests and getting on with buggering up the economy.

Yeah but I'm proud to be in a party that actually has a free and fair election process involving the entire membership. Not an MP Cabal.

 

If/when Starmer wins we can hopefully go about making the next election a lot closer.

Sir Keir Starmer won the contest in the first round. Here are the full results:

 

Sir Keir Starmer – 275,780 (56.2%)

Rebecca Long-Bailey – 135,218 (27.6%)

Lisa Nandy – 79,597 (16.2%)

 

To give some context

 

Correct for first rounds

 

61.8% - Corbyn 2016 (2 candidates)

59.5% - Corbyn 2015 (4 candidates)

37.8% - D Miliband 2010 (beaten in final round by E.Miliband)

XX - Brown 2007 (Unoppposed)

57.0% - Blair 1994 (3 candidates)

 

Elections before 1994 were held under dubious electoral systems....

 

Smith - 91.0% (1992)

Kinnock 88.6% (1988)

Looks like Deputy leadership was a lot closer.

 

Rayerner only ahead by 41.7% to 17.3% for nearest rival in round 1

 

Ended up at 52.6% to 26.1% for nearest rival in round 3.
