DCI Frank Burnside 3,870 Posted July 17 Would also say it's something that has to come naturally. Which it most certainly did when it comes to Dennis

Fleet may just be a little too new in the seat to be willing to do it, while others in Labor in particular probably felt that it may have underminded the moment. I don't know directly, but all of this seems probably reasonable even in part. Burgon has been compared to Skinner before.
Cerberus 296 Posted August 22 I was wondering why I hadn't seen one of these yet. Perhaps I'll start to see them in my change now, as long as our friends the hoarders don't snap them all up first: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3ejnv74dwno
Viceroy 13 Posted September 1 I think the next monarchs (since 1066) he overtakes next are King James II and then King Richard III.
Ulitzer95 12,431 Posted October 8 Breaking story right now about him dropping out of COP29 due to "ongoing cancer treatment". He wouldn't do that lightly and I don't buy it's because of something scheduled well in advance – COP is something close to his heart. As I broke the story on his prognosis at the start of the year and said there's a possibility he may not reach Christmas, I think that can be revised now to say he will probably see 2025, but it doesn't feel like he's going to beat this long-term. I think he should be on the 2025 list. 9
Mango 158 Posted October 8 He's still doing fantastically well so I'm sure he'll be fine, if a little weaker, long-term. He's a survivor, and his treatment is working. That said, the Queen was first on the list in 1990, so Charles being on next year's wouldn't surprise me.

They don’t seem to preparing the nation for his demise at all even in subtle ways that can’t really be noticed. It will have a large impact His treatment is weekly - some type of Chemo?

Perhaps the article has been edited since you saw it, but it doesn't read as if he's "dropping out" by choice. "It is understood that the Government has decided not to ask King Charles to represent the country this year. Sources told The Mirror that No10 felt "an abundance of caution" was needed given the monarch's current health battle. They said: "The King will not be going to Cop. He has not been asked by the Government to attend the event and he is also mindful of his own commitments following the upcoming autumn tour." But it's GB News, so not something I'd rely on.

So yes presume it is scheduled to be weekly treatment.

Surely they wouldn't if he was in need of it? 3 hours ago, The Old Crem said: They don’t seem to preparing the nation for his demise at all even in subtle ways that can’t really be noticed. It will have a large impact This is key. We haven't heard of a lot of the scurrying about as when his mother was quite ill, like an uptick in training on reporting his death (or a number of reporters keeping around extra black suits more than usual). The papers, even the tabloids, haven't hinted at it, nor have the gossip blinds or sites which Megan would surely leak to if she (or Harry) knew anything was quicker or more serious than we've been told...

Those two won't be told anything. The first they knew of Catherine's cancer diagnosis was when it was announced to the general public.
Viceroy 13 Posted October 8 It'll be interesting to see whether he manages beats King William IV (7 years) and King-Emperor Edward VII (9 years) in terms of reign, as they too came to the throne at advanced ages for their time.

And the fact that we haven't heard anything worse implies that we may legitimately be able to take what's been said at face value and believe that his condition has improved like his daughter-in-law's.
