Stayin Alive 26 Posted February 12, 2004 Not based on any strong leads, apart from his date of birth: 26 October 1923 (81 this year). Memory jogged from watching an old public information film where a very dapper Shaw instructs 1950s citizens to "clunk-click", and after all, he should know, he was in the feel good business of giving "sound advice" at the time when seatbelts were just an upholstery upgrade, holding no life saving properties at all. Very hard to find any information on Shaw other than the IMDB and some crazy, and painfully slow, French sycophantic's website: http://shawtaylor.ifrance.com/shawtaylor/ - it might even be the official website. Perhaps we should we be keepin' 'em peeled?
Grim Reaper 186 Posted February 12, 2004 Interesting idea but as you say information is painfully difficult to come by I guess the subsequent success of CrimeWatch has been all too painful for Shaw so he is keeping a rather low profile. Im predicting plenty of obituaries though when he does keel over.

Goonish Grin 0 Posted January 8, 2006 I was at a funeral over Christmas and I was informed during the booze up afterwards that Shaw Taylor was dead. I do not think he is. He must be getting on a bit though. Maybe a contender. Now before anyone gets upset that there is already a thread for Shaw Taylor and I am being "unfair" (Michael Sheard thread), if there already one, I could not find it. BrunoBrimley 86 Posted January 8, 2006 Just who is this person?
Cerberus 302 Posted January 9, 2006 British TV presenter of yesteryear. His 1970s (and early 80s?) programme, whose title escapes me, sought the help of the public in solving recently committed crimes. Hence his catchphrase - "keep 'em peeled." He didn't say "don't have nightmares" though, did he - that was the other one.

maryportfuncity 10,623 Posted January 9, 2006 S'cuse the blatant irony but whoever put the 'design' into his official web site wants taken outside and seen to....it's criminal.

millwall32 114 Posted January 9, 2006 Shaw Taylors programe was called POLICE 5 And the theme music was the middle eight of Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain. Saturday and Sunday afternoons before the wrestling and Hart to Hart respectively.
Death Warmed Up 3 Posted January 9, 2006 Still think he did the best reconstructions, better than crimewatch. Old cortinas and granadas as get away cars, robbers running away wearing flared trouses and stockings over their heads.Police driving light blue/white escorts, and there was Shaw, right in the thick of it 'keepin em peeled ! Those were the days
Cerberus 302 Posted January 10, 2006 Shaw Taylors programe was called POLICE 5 And the theme music was the middle eight of Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain. Saturday and Sunday afternoons before the wrestling and Hart to Hart respectively. That's interesting - "World in Action" used that tune as well. Or was it "Weekend World?" On what authority does Shaw Taylor talk about the golden days of British telly. Police 5 was great in a on-a-Saturday-afternoon-just before-wrestling kind of way was hardly __________ (insert personal choice of golden oldy here).
Guest Terry Posted January 16, 2007 Shaw Taylor was on tele this evening talking to a local radio dj on Solent TV. He is 82 years old and still going very strong. He was talking about his career. He mentioned that he saw Ken Russell on Big Brother. (solent tv is on sky, the last channel on the menu before "Lifestyle & Cuture" selection

SalmonMousse 25 Posted January 1, 2014 some dull trivia In 2008, at the age of 83, he featured as himself hosting Police 5 in the seventh episode of the BBC TV drama Ashes to Ashes, set in October 1981, in which he uses the aforedescribed "Keep 'em peeled!" He plays bridge and presented a television series on the subject.
