If so that would make her the youngest person ever to score a UK no.1, which to my understanding I had always assumed was Jimmy Osmond. Yeah, this is a difficult one. She's obviously not listed on the artwork or anything, and going by Discogs none of the actual four Teletubbies themselves are either (although, vaguely interesting trivia, the song was produced by Sid James' son). I suppose the real barometer is whether it was a freshly recorded giggle or they just sampled the giggle previously taped for the show. Anyone got a PRS membership to check?

Any advance on that? Danny Jones from McFly was also born in 1986 and had two #1s the previous year ("5 Colours In Her Hair" being the first). 1/2 of McFly were born in 1985 so we can write them off, but Dougie Poynter was born 1987 so he should also get a place on the list I think?

That beats Joss Stone that I just added to the same post too, as McFly's #1s in 2004 will predate 'Do They Know It's Christmas'. Good shout.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted November 4, 2022 God, this is a rabbit hole I haven't got time to fall down tonight! 1951: Dana, All Kinds of Everything (1970) has got to be a shout? Spade_Cooley 9,525 Posted November 4, 2022 Going to start naming ones I'm not 100% on but want to see some advances on: 1991: Joe McElderry ("The Climb" 2009) 1993: Niall Horan/Liam Payne/Cher Llloyd ("Heroes" 2010) 1994: Harry Styles ("Heroes" 2010) Does anyone have dates of birth for the members of completely forgotten girl group Belle Amie, who also featured on that "Heroes" cover?
DemBones 36 Posted November 4, 2022 Just one to add from 1959’s chart-toppers. 1943: Tony Meehan (Cliff Richard & The Shadows). I edited several artists from the 1957/58 charts into my previous post, in case you missed it - might’ve been some overlap there.

Sally Lindsay was one of the choir, and we can definitely nail a DOB for her (July 8, 1973). So at least we have a name for 1973 rather than "a bunch of kids from Stockport". Similarly, the character actress Jennifer Hennessy (you'd recognise the face, never off British TV) was one of the kids as well. She was born 1970.
Hartnell 1999 89 Posted November 4, 2022 To make researching easier, I’m going to post a series of separate mini-lists of all UK No.1 scoring artists by year of birth, then we can use the Offical Charts archive to cross-reference from this list and determine the first chart topper from each cohort, which I will add to the master list. Starting with the 1986-2004 cohorts: 1986: Danny Jones, Alex Turner, Andy Nicholson, Matt Helders, Ellie Goulding 1987: Dougie Poynter, Joss Stone, Sophia Wardman, LadBaby 1988: Rihanna 1989: Rebecca Creighton, Lauren Bennett, Taylor Swift 1990: Geneva Lane, Rita Ora 1991: Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Ed Sheeran, Anne Marie 1992: Sam Smith 1993: Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Cher Lloyd, Ariana Grande 1994: Harry Styles, Justin Bieber 1995: Jessica Smith*, Kieran Alleyne, Jordan Lee 1996: Lorde, Dua Lipa 1997: Jorja Smith, Raye 1998: Shawn Mendes, Louisa Johnson 1999: Lil Nas X 2000: 2001: Billie Eilish 2002: Jawsh 685 2003: Olivia Rodrigo 2004: Gayle * Uncredited or disputed
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted November 4, 2022 I'm assuming we've already checked all the recent hits for an artist born in 2000, hence the gap? I've just had a look and I can't find one. On Wikipedia, Toni Watson (Tones and I) is listed as being very evasive about her age, with dates of birth from "1993 to 2000" given online. But I think she's older than 22, and Rolling Stone said in 2020 that she was 26.
