The Kings Of Tonga

Recommended Posts

According to Wiki the prime minister Lavaica Ata Ulukalala has resigned.

He was replaced by Feleti Sevele.

The first non noble to hold the office.

Could this be a positive sign?

The Crown Prince has packed in his day job, got some inside information perhaps?

The Crown Prince has not packed in any day job, but his brother the former Prime Minister has.

It's been on the table for quite some time. The country is under pressure both internally as well as externally for democratic change.

So this move has absolutely nothing to do with the King's health.

Merely a misunderstanding by who ever posted that link.

Did you know that a few years ago the King of Tonga released an album?

I am sorely tempted to buy it.

Maybe it's not too late to cancel!

It's a pity we can't post sound clips on this forum ... then we could all listen to samples.

:) That's a tremendous find! Job's a good 'un. I'm guessing it was a google search which led to a "Buy King Taufa'ahau at Amazon" advertisement? Awesome...

I wonder if there's a ukelele orchestra piece on it? I'm sure a hundred or so passing russian sailors would have been happy to oblige with a George Formby number or two. DDT, let us know if it's any good.

It arrived today. A truly awesome piece of work, words fail me at this point. I am going to attempt to

mix his millenium message with "What Time Is Love" by the KLF. (I haven't asked His Majestys permission, but he wouldn't mind, would he?)

You claim to have read somewhere that King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV is on the road promoting his new book, when the best information we have is that he is in hospital in Auckland, NZ. (I have been trying quite hard to find new info on his condition from sundry NZ newspaper correspondents, to no avail. There seems to be a blackout.)

If you have information to which we're not privy, would you be good enough to post a link? I'm most keen to learn whether Taufa' is actually still alive, let alone where he is being looked after...

nothing specific on his illness. He was admitted in mid-December, and another article in an Aussie paper acknowledges that King Tupou IV was still hospitalized in Aukland as of 2 weeks ago. Anyone who spends 2 months in a hospital has to be in crap shape.

No real news on his health but I did find this.

Who at present is Tonga's real ruler? After several decades of having the final say in Tonga's affairs, that remarkable personality, the 87-year old King Taufa'ahau Tupou, is having yet another round of critical medical care in New Zealand. He's been there since January and there's no telling when he'll be able to return home, if at all.

Hopefully he will last another 9 months so that he can be considered for next year's deatlist.

Illness forces Tonga’s King to cut short his first public appearance

The king was scheduled to tour and inspect the new hospital wing, but he left straight after he made his speech looking very uncomfortable and in pain. During the ceremony he was constantly being massaged by his bodyguard and attendants, who looked seriously concerned about the king's condition.

He does not look like a well man.

Incidently, if anyone's got the King of Samoa on their list (I think Windsor has), abandon all hope. My man

in Apia says he's fit as a fiddle, still has all his own teeth and about to commence work on his autobiography

I was going by his age on that one.

Well I suppose I shall have to make do with the ailing King of Tonga.

No deaths since January with me...

I'm in the same boat as both of you, although Al Lewis was a hit for my Rotten Deadpool at the beginning of February, if that counts.

Come on people! I hate being the forum nag, but let's keep this thread Taufa, shall we? Talk about your DDP in the DDP thread.
