The Kings Of Tonga

Recommended Posts

Former Tongan prime minister Baron Vaea has died at 88. This is a long thread - is it worth reading, old timers?

Edit: I did read it. It's a shame that Josco's original 'fat old bugger', which almost led to a diplomatic incident, has been amended.

Luckily someone had the presence of mind to do a screenshot of the Google search page.

Although the new version is also not bad.

The late King's son and heir, King George Tupou V has had surgery in Los Angeles to remove his right kidney after a tumour was found.

Bloody hell! The new fat old bugger didn't last long did he?

Is the King of Tonga the new Spinal Tap Drummer?

The King of Tonga has died in Hong Kong, sparking an outpouring of grief in the Pacific nation.

I was always under the impression that he was rather unpopular in Tonga.

Shortly after his coronation, he appointed his younger brother, Prince 'Ulukalala Lavaka Ata, as Crown Prince and heir to the throne.

Now that's a name to conjure with, or summat.

He looked like al-Fayed at Wills and Kate's wedding last year. Perhaps it's a conspiracy?

Also slightly off topic, but "

", a jaunty tribute to Queen Salote by former DeathList favourite Edmundo Ros, always makes me smile. :)

Tonga's eighty nine year old Queen Mother, Halaevalu Mata'aho 'Ahome'e, the widow of King Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV, might be worth a punt next year. I'm told she is not in good health and hasn't been seen in public recently.
