Commtech Sio Bibble 2,044 Posted August 17 I may participate in the 50s round, depends if I have time to familiarise myself with the songs as I presume almost all of them will by unknown to me given they'll all be older than my parents. Thanks TQR for doing this. I don't know what stage the 80s No.3s game is currently at but would it be poor etiquette for me to start voting there having never voted before in that game.

We share different music tastes but I appreciate you doing all this. Honestly my pleasure, I love doing it! Gotta as always also give credit to creator Book, co-host Wannamaker and everyone here who makes this the wonderful rollercoaster of a game it is!
wannamaker 1,407 Posted August 18 There's 2 songs in the worst of the decade that I like more than half of the finalists lol. Anyways here's the spotify playlist for this game. 3
Book 3,556 Posted August 18 I always thought "Somebody that I used to know" was special and actually OK, but it never really reached me enough to make me really like it. How "Counting Stars" came in second place is a mystery to me Thanks @TQR for going on with the No.1's of the 50s.

Adds to the fun! We're currently just getting started on a bloody battle to reduce 7 great songs to 5 in the latest heat!
TQR 14,396 Posted August 18 Yes, all are welcome, no matter what stage of the game, no matter how old you are, no matter how many of the songs you like or know straight away. It’s all good fun, and the more people involved the better! Probably a good time to confirm the longer-term plan for this game. I’m obviously doing the 50s No.1s now, followed by 10s No.2s, then 50s No.2s. I’m also doing another Christmas special this year; could be Christmas No.1s, could be carols, could even be similar to last year but different songs/versions, we’ll see. Wannamaker has the No.3s covered (hopefully from the 50s all the way to the 10s!). Once the No.3s are done, I plan on doing a Champion of Champions game, whereby the top-5 finalists of every decade game (105 songs, 3 qualifier rounds) fight it out to be crowned the KoS Ultimate UK chart single. Also at this point, the plan is to move on to themed games. The possibilities will be endless here, as long as we have a willing host come the time (after KoS CoC, I only want to do the annual Christmas specials, so this is either Wannamaker’s or someone new). Thanks again to all who take part in this brilliant little corner of the forum, I hope you’ll stick around for all this upcoming action!

While I was sorting the Number 3's I saw how many great songs peaked at Number 4, and I would love to host those games if the people want it. 6

Cool! It can always run alongside the themed games; I think having two KoS on the go has been a success!
Bibliogryphon 9,582 Posted August 19 Somebody That I Used To Know for me was the right winner here. It is distinctive yet familiar. It probably has more traction here with the Radio 2 demographic who appear to be in the majority here. I did struggle with this game at times especially the middle group. The winner being from the opening group probably says it all about the decade.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted August 19 I actually enjoyed this game more than I thought I would, although I could have happily got rid of about half the songs in each round before we started, rather than each one taking a couple of months to play out. There are still some catchy songs out there, but the music is very different from the 80s and 90s stuff I've grown up with, even the 00s stuff. Still think the 80s is the best decade, as proven by the fight in the 80s No. 3s currently ongoing.

I skipped straight from R1 to R4 when Chris Evans started hosting the breakfast show only to be punished later in my life when my daughter who was less than impressed by Nick Grimshaw as a replacement for Chris Moyles decided to switch on the school run to R2 where at the time Chris Evans presenting.
ladyfiona 2,585 Posted August 21 It's because of the KOS games that my Spotify likes have become so diverse and now has 5,555 songs. I've added 15 songs to my likes just from listening this evening. And yet my Spotify still plays Murray Gold because of my Doctor Who obsession when I don't want it to.

Why would you not want it playing Murray Gold? His Doctor Who music is epic!!!!
