The Daredevil 1,241 Posted Monday at 21:44 I know you're all wanting to know why. Don't know much about his current condition (hospitalised with a fractured hip several years ago), although seems more frail on Cameo these days. But this 88-year-old A-lister who killed John Wayne in The Cowboys certainly deserves a thread, and is from a dying generation of great actors. We wouldn't want him to end up like Joan Plowright (dead without a thread) Nominated for two academy awards: Coming Home (1978, Best Supporting Actor) and Nebraska (2013, Best Actor). Also sported memorable roles in Hang 'Em High, Family Plot, Black Sunday, The Driver and Marnie.
Szabaka 95 Posted Monday at 22:04 "Coming Home" is an excellent film, despite the fact that Hanoi Jane is in it.

MrWonderful 498 Posted Tuesday at 09:45 Apart from the roles that have already been mentioned, he was great as the slimy villain in a very underrated sports comedy/drama, Diggstown. (The twist in the climactic final boxing match is fantastic.)
msc 18,734 Posted Tuesday at 10:14 Not previously mentioned, the excellent SF film Silent Runnings, which Bruce Dern (as a slightly nuts eco-terrorist astronaut) shares screen time with some cute robots. Oh, and They Shoot Horses Don't They, which might be one of the most depressing films I've ever seen.
maryportfuncity 10,796 Posted Thursday at 08:51 Nebraska is a great film, he was Oscar nominated, won a couple of other acting awards and the film got about 20 awards from over 100 nominations

time 8,777 Posted Thursday at 09:24 Worth seeing, as we're talking Bruce Dern films, is Freaks. The title almost put me off watching it, only giving it a go because Bruce Dern is in it. It was on one of the streamers in UK last year, and still might be. I'd recommend watching it cold, without reading reviews or synopses, and just discovering what its all about as the story unfolds.
