lospalmas7 12 Posted April 1, 2005 (edited) A question: Is it only Cardinal Bishops that can become Pope? Edit: Turns out anyone can be Pope. Can anyone give me a reference? Edited April 1, 2005 by lospalmas7
Typhoid Harry 23 Posted April 1, 2005 A question: Is it only Cardinal Bishops that can become Pope? Nope, the Cardinals can elect whomever they choose, technically, however, "popification" politics is millennia advanced beyond any other.

I think think you 'll find that the choice of a new pope will take a great deal of "pontificating" Am I on a roll or wot?!
Guest One Man Jury Posted April 1, 2005 The re-popification process is just asking for a sweepstake. Deathlist could run a sweepstake on the surviving 50 targets for this year and pay out when the lucky number comes up. No doubt Mr Josco would be sitting at his computer sticking pins in the voodoo doll that had his number on it.

Guest John Posted April 1, 2005 Technically any Roman catholic is "papabile" but in practice Cardinals only elect Cardinals. I think the conclave has to be 2/3 in agreement for a pope to be succesfully elected which can take days. Francis Arinze or Joseph Ratzinger will probably be next Holy Father although both are a little older than ideal.

It looks like the "pontificating" process is set to begin once Pope John Paul II dies.
Guest Believer Posted April 1, 2005 I am responding to your stupid remarks only because I cannot believe so many of you are ignorant of your own mortality. I do believe in God and know that one day we will all be judged according to our deeds here on earth. Since most of you half-witted indivuduals cannot respect religion or others religious beliefs I will pray for you and hope you find something very important;;;; Your brain. Guest Stephen Posted April 1, 2005 Re: the poster who asked about most 'last rites', well, my Gran was given last rites sometime in the late 1950s and again about two years ago, but is still going strong. Last rites are in preparation for when the inevitable happens, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the inevitable is right 'round the corner.

You're full with brilliant one liners today aren't you? The chances are rather slim that would happen though. I also wonder what name he would be given/take.
