Director Curtis Hanson dead of heart attack aged 71. Most famous for winning an oscar for LA Confiential: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/curtis-hanson-dead-la-confidential-861160?utm_source=twitter

LA'd To Rest Confidential

I read a lot of hyperbole about that film as being a critical and financial succes.

And in this case, well justified. Also one of my favorite films of all time.

Never seen it? It's on par with Reservoir Dogs and Usual Suspects.

Bill Nunn, most famous for being in the films Do The Right Thing and Spider Man has died: http://heavy.com/entertainment/2016/09/bill-nunn-dead-dies-death-rip-radio-raheem-spike-lee-twitter-age/

You will know the face. Maybe. Anyway he was also in Sister Act, and I hate that movie.

Ben Stiller opens up on the fact he had an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer a few years ago, which is now in remission. Can't have been that big then, presumably it was a tumour for ants.

Hmm, maybe next year, I should put him back on my long list.

Why was he originally on your long list?

Kathryn Adams Doty, American actress, has died aged 96. http://obituaries.mankatofreepress.com/story/kathryn-doty-1920-2016-840105772

Credits include the 1939 film The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and the 1940 film The Invisible Woman.

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0011116/

She's not even credited on IMDb so she must have been a small part--but nonetheless CERTAINLY the last cast member to have been alive from Hunchback, what with Maureen O'Hara dying almost exactly a year earlier (Oct 24 2015).

Looking at the cast I saw an Etienne Girardot, b, Feb 22 1856, who died in 1939 age 83.

I'm sure there's some movies with an old man and a young kid in it that rival this, but the lifespan of actors in a movie from 2-22-1856 to 10-22-2016 HAS to be near the top, though I won't take the time to calculate how many days that is. (Looks exactly 160 years 8 months)

It would be interesting to know who the person with the earliest birthdate to appear in a motion picutre was (particularly if that picture is still surviving, not lost like many of the early silents).

To answer my own question, this is not an actor/actress but it may be the earliest-born person captured on film: http://mentalfloss.com/article/68977/footage-shows-earliest-born-person-ever-captured-film

Straight Dope has a discussion on the question: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=637059

Michael Massee dead at 61. A very minor character actor, but his place in film history will be forever secured as he was the guy who fired the prop gun that killed Brandon Lee.

From all accounts he never mentally recovered from that, unsurprisingly.
