Carter is still active. He might make it to the next decade at this rate.

No he won`t.Maybe a year or two if the treatment goes exceedingly well and there aren`t any complications but not over 4.Yes we did say the same about Zsa Zsa but she didn`t have stage 4 cancer.Remember he said the Doctors were highly suspicious that the cancer did not originate in his liver. If that is the case there is primary cancer tissue still to be found which has already been advanced enough to spread to two separate regions thus meaning it could very well spread somewhere else from said site.Even if it did orginate in the liver he is still in big trouble.Especially has he has four separate spots on the brain. One is bad enough but 4 is pretty dire indeed.

If Jimmy Carter makes it to the next decade I'll eat a bucket of your shit and top it off with a gallon of katie hopkins piss mixed with johnny rottens sperm. And to add horror to that I'll fly for several hours on Ryanair sat next to you.

I sincerely doubt it!

I think the chances of him making it to 2016, on the other hand, are good. In which case, he should be very high on the DL 2016, but of course he will be anyway unless he dies before then, which is a distinct possibility.

Jimmy Carter says doctors find no new cancer growth.

http://www.wral.com/jimmy-carter-says-doctors-find-no-new-cancer-growth/15078126/

I guess that's good news for him and his family. All of the interviewees in the report seem quite optimistic (perhaps overly optimistic) about his prognosis, so we can be reasonably sure that he'll at least make the starting line in 2016 (and he's not a dead cert next year either).

But despite all the optimism, an inoperable cancer in the brain usually presents significant challenges for the oncologists (due to the importance and sensitivity of the brain and the blood-brain barrier), so he could still be considered for the main list.

At his age, and being such a high-profile figure, he shouldn't be considered for the list, he IS on next year's list, and likely at #1 position.

Well, I do agree that he should be put on the list. But since I'm a polite guy, I formulated my position as a suggestion rather than as a demand. After all, it lies with the honourable DeathList committee to decide who should and shouldn't be on the list.

I was just a little worried that they might be dissuaded from including him by the prognoses of the (renowned but likely cautiously optimistic) cancer specialists in the article. E. g.

Dr. Sapna Patel, a melanoma specialist at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston who has no role in Carter's treatment, said the statement gives "a lot of reason to be optimistic."

"We couldn't infer necessarily that the cancer is gone, but nothing is spreading, nothing is growing, nothing is worsening," she said. "This is considered really good news, if after a few short months, nothing is growing ... and there doesn't appear to be any new cancer."

The immune therapy likely will continue for one to two years as long as he is responding, she said.

Basically, what she's implying is while his condition is likely incurable, he might still have a life expectancy of one to two years (as opposed to just months).

He could have a life expectancy of 1.3 years from diagnosis and still be necessary on a 2016 list. Suffice he's going on mine, for those who believe they have 20 more worthy candidates, leave him off your list.

I could imagine there's a chance he'll survive the year. But I also think that once his health declines, death will come pretty quickly.

Still doing well:

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/jimmy-carters-grandson-president-35535992

So what are his chances of seeing 2017?

Pretty slim. But I do reckon he's a good choice for The Hare's Deadpool, looks like he'll die in the final months of 2016.

Oh shit. Erm, an update will be forthcoming but not exactly imminent regarding the scores for this year and registration for next year....

Carter feels 50/50 for next year to me, but I'll still be going with him as I like having a token world leader at any rate, and given my team name missing out on a terminally ill US President would be pretty embarrassing.

This is going to leave the DL selection team in a bit of a dilemma...

Cancer-free - but for how long? And even without the cancer, he's still 92 years of age next year...

I think we should put Carter in occupying slot 50, in light of the new developments.

Put him near the bottom of the list in case there is a recurrence.Plus the history of pancreatic cancer in his family means there is a chance that will too develop one day.His age and notability alone probably justify his inclusion on next years list anyway just not at the top of the list.Utterly surprised but happy to hear this.A really decent man whatever you think of his politics.
