Recent picture of Mikizo Ueda:

ueda.png.d28678b2ab447d0bb31793046c93c2f3.png

He was apparently in Hiroshima on the 6th of August 1945, but didn't get injured, atleast not seriously. In a pretty good condition for a 111-year-old, still exercises frequently.

Mikizo Ueda celebrated his 112th birthday:

mikizoueda.png.7dbbddfb35c5913e6cfde9bab2a2dc2a.png

Looks a bit thin in the recent pictures but otherwise seems to be doing okay.

Some observations, thoughts on the current oldest people, born in and before 1908:

1908 - 14, more or less:

Ai Suganoya: Went into limbo for two years, but was recently confirmed alive at nearly 114.

Ai Suganoya, Japan's third oldest person is now again in limbo, confirmed alive on the 31st of March but not confirmed alive on the 30th of April in Japan's once-a-month update. Means that very likely she has died.

Juan Vicente Perez Mora is 113 today, becomes 20th validated male supercentenarian to reach the age of 113 years.

Apparently eats well, doesn't have any serious diseases and doesn't take medicine.

Here's a better video from a week ago:

He’s 113, Mora less.

Delio Venturotti dead at 112.

Edit: That's not an article on his death (article on him being hospitalised a few days ago), but there's confirmation on 110club and facebook.

Juan Vicente Perez Mora is the last man born in the 1900s decade.

This isn’t a big deal as some of you think it is it’s normal within older people so no health declines may be present in the two

Ebeltje Boekema-Hut, oldest person from the Netherlands dead at 110: https://netherlands.postsen.com/news/21269/Oldest-resident-of-the-Netherlands-Ebeltje-Boekema-Hut-110-passed-away.html

Ma Drue, Burmese-born oldest person (claimant?) in Australia, formerly called "Anonymous of Australia" dead at 111 or 112 according to 110club. Can't find a proper link but it's in the "Recent Deaths 110+" section on those forums. She had been in failing health for a while. Oldest person in Australia now is Jessie Prowse, 111 next month.

Tekla Juniewicz reached 116 last week, here's a new picture of her with the GRG's Poland correspondent

I don't think she was the oldest. Just the oldest named. There is an anonymous case who was ahead of her (born Jun 1911). Could have died off radar any time since being picked up though.

The Netherlands has very strict privacy laws so their tables will never be accurate. Likely their top 3 is always wrong.

Which really shows, our oldest man has been "anonymous man" (Feb 1, 1914) for two years now! :D

Casilda Benegas is 115 today. Here's a new article:

https://www.lacapitalmdp.com/casilda-benegas-cumple-115-anos-y-es-la-mas-longeva-de-la-argentina/amp/

She apparently eats a lot of sweets, "catches a cold every once in a while but always recovers" and doesn't take medicine.

Casilda Benegas died yesterday at 115 according to 110club.

First validated Paraguayan-born supercentenarian, oldest person in Argentina ever and the fourth-oldest living person at the time of her death.

My guess is, she catched a cold and didn't recover.

Excluding those considered as claimants;

1. Lucile Randon, 118. Seemingly doing fine.

2. Tekla Juniewicz, 116. In great condition for someone her age and still able to walk.

3. Maria Branyas Morera, 115. Declined during recent months, judging on how in recent pictures of her she's on a hospital bed.

4. Fusa Tatsumi, 115. Wheelchairbound since her centenarian years, now bedbound and incredibly frail, as R. Young said she was in worse condition on her 115th birthday than Kane Tanaka was around a week before she died.

5. Sofia Rojas, 114. Oldest Columbian ever, wheelchairbound.

6. Bessie Hendricks, 114. Had "no major illnesses" a year or a few ago but looked a bit frail on her 114th.

7. Mila Mangold, 114. Wheelchairbound since atleast 109.

8. Edie Ceccarelli, 114. Physically in pretty good health, but suffers from dementia.

9. Kahuro Furuya, 114. Oldest person ever with a pacemaker.

10. Erna Zahn, 114. wheelchairbound

Suzanne Décélis, possibly the third-oldest French person dead at 112 according to 110club (and https://deces.matchid.io/search?q=décélis+suzanne+aimée)

Only three French people born before 1910 remain:

Lucile Randon, Irena Martial and Juliette Bilde. Martial, the oldest person in Guadeloupe seems to be very frail. Randon was reported to be "fine" yesterday and could end up being the last one.

Irena Martial celebrated her 113th yesterday. Now on oxygen and completely bedbound.
