The thread is about drinks. There's no stipulation that they have to be alcoholic drinks.

We can discuss favourite tea or coffee blends there, fruit juices, fizzy water, anything!

I would personally welcome suggestions for non-alcoholic cocktails for those occasions when one has to drive home.

Update of living people from the 1900s

Old versions by @arghton

November 2022 , January 2023February 2023 , May 2023

After the death of Bessie Hendricks (1907) on 3 January 2023 there were 25 living people born in the 1900s

(Not counting Josephina Maria da Conceicao (1909) who died on 7 January 2023 and is only pending by LAS. Also not counting Kame Uema (1909) who is apparently still living but remains unvalidated).

Now there are only 11 people remaining as 14 people died

6 January 2023 Shige Mineshiba (1909) 113:233

10 January 2023 Hide Hamabe (1908) 114:038

17 January 2023 Lucile Randon (1904) 118:340

25 January 2023 Shinobu Hayashi (1909) 113:316

27 January 2023 Annabelle Holblinger (1909) 113:317

6 February 2023 Yasue Okai (1908) 114:073

8 February 2023 Maria Aulenbacher (1909) 113:093

22 February 2023 Maki Hirabayashi (1909) 113:128

25 April 2023 Shina Seki (1909) 113:206

17 May 2023 Nina Willis (1909) 114:123

25 May 2023 Hazel Plummer (1908) 114:340

4 July 2023 Ushi Makishi (1909) 114:139

12 December 2023 Fusa Tatsumi (1907) 116:231

16 January 2024 Tane Matsubara (1909) 114:093

It was a bad period for Japanese SCs as 9 of the 14 who died were born in Japan (Shige Mineshiba was born in Japan but lived in Canada since age 60).

Now 3 of the remaining 11 people (27%) are born in Japan, while back on 3 January 2023 12 of the remaining 25 people (48%) were born in Japan.

The remaining 11 living people born in the 1900s

1) Maria Branyas Morera (1907) Oldest Living Person for more than 1 year. Oldest Person living in Spain ever. COVID survivor at 113, oldest emigrant ever. In relatively good shape for her age.

2) Edie Ceccarelli (1908) She has dementia, but is otherwise in relatively good shape.

3) Tomiko Itooka (1908) Active as an elderly person and centenarian. Survived stroke and brain surgery at 110. Looked strong especially compared to the other Japanese SCs, but had a small decline at 115.

4) Inah Canabarro Lucas (1908) Oldest Living nun, survived COVID at 114. The strongest of the people born before 1909.

5) Juan Vicente Perez Mora (1909) 4th oldest man ever (not counting Anisio Rodrigues Alves who is only pending) . Oldest Living Man for more than 2 years. In stable and relatively good shape for years.

6) Elizabeth Francis (1909) Seemed to be bedridden in early 2023 photo but more recent photos depict her in better shape. Her sister Bertha Johnson (1904–2011), lived to the age of 106, making them one of the oldest sibling pairs

7) Ethel Caterham Oldest Person in the UK since Ethel Lang (1900-2015). Survived COVID at 110. In good shape, stable during the last years.

8) Okagi Hayashi (1909) In good shape but she has some decline at 114.

9) Pearl Berg (1909) 3rd oldest Jewish person ever after Goldie Steinberg and Cecile Klein. Claims to be born in 1910. Looked great in her 113th birthday but frailer in 2023 photos, and seems to be on oxygen

10) Masa Matsumoto (1909) While being in good condition in her centenarian and early supercentenarian years she appears to have declined sharply since the age of 113.

11) Charlotte Kretchmann (1909) Oldest Person living in Germany ever. In great condition, celebrated her 114th birthday in a restaurant. Strongest person born in the 1900s so likely she could be the last survivor as she is also born at the end of 1900s (December 1909).

Since 2017 the WOLP was from Japan (Nabi Tajima, Chiyo Miyako, Kane Tanaka). Now we have a French WOLP.

I wonder when could a Japanese person take this title again...

Apparently there are quite a lot non-Japanese strong possible future candidates (Juniewicz, Morera, Benegas, Rojas, Ceccarelli ), while the Japanese 114+ supercentenarians seem very frail or their status is unknown (not a good sign). Of course we have seen frail supercentenarians from Japan getting the WOLP title, but I think that still a stronger supercentenarian has better chances.

Despite being very frail Fusa Tatsumi actually managed to become world's 2nd oldest person and remain in this position for almost a year outliving various other SCs.

Now it is 2024 and the oldest person is still non-Japanese. I think that Tomiko Itooka could possibly outlive both Morera and Ceccarelli and become world's oldest person in the future. In any case, top Japanese SCs have been hit hard during the last year, but this was somewhat predictable due to their frailness, now only the 2 most physically strong are still living (Tomiko Itooka, Okagi Hayashi) and the one who formerly appeared strong (Masa Matsumoto). Kame Uema remains a mystery despite her claimed age is around 114.5 now.

This means Don Vicente is the last obstacle between Fauja Singh and the World's Oldest Living Man title. New oldest man in US is Otis Randall, an African American who is also the last American man born in 1913.

Clayton Flowers is moving closer to the American top 10 (now at #12). Don't know how is it possible, but in December he looked the best he has looked like in years.

Miss. Batuli Lamichhane confirmed alive at the age of 120 years & 4 months on 27 July 2023. Looks about the same as she did when she was 117 in 2020. Frail. Appeared strong in the 2015 update when she was 112. Has a 1934 census and several 1930s newspaper clippings supporting her age. Possible chance of being the age claimed. But each year as she gets older, the statistics in reaching such an age get slimmer and slimmer and the chances of her actually being the age claimed get lower and lower. I thought Maria Gomes dos Reis was plausible when she was 119 but once she 122 I got very skeptical.

Batuli Lamichhane, perennially frail Nepalese longevity claimant finally dead at the claimed age of 121.

In fact Mabel as a name has been steadily increasing in popularity in England & Wales in recent years.

In 2021 (the most recent figures available) 839 baby girls were registered as Mabel, putting the name in 59th place.

A famous bearer of the name is the singer-songwriter Mabel, who is Neneh Cherry's daughter.

Jesus…the 13-year olds are here.  There are professionals on these boards that draft quality insults directed at Sir Creep, you should go read their work and save yourself the embarrassment of infantile posts.

That speaks to your culture.  Would you do that to your kid?  What…Deirdre, Edna, Ida and Gertrude weren’t available?
To be fair, Mabel is a huge upgrade from Neneh, which is probably 74th on your popular name list.

”Mabel reached its highest position of #20 in the U.S. in the 1890s, and is at #436 presently.  (2018 U.S. SSA RECORDS)”

Ive never been more proud to be a Yank.

I named my dog Mabel.  I think it's a lovely name, although I don't like any of the others you mentioned - they are all harsh names.

Mabel conjures up the month of May and bells, without being too frilly.

The only problem with it is people misspelling it Mable.

I was reading a FB post the other day where a rescue was asking for name suggestions for a litter of orphaned puppies.  An American recommended some names of baby girls they knew which they thought were really pretty names.  Wyatt and Bennett.
