Pete Zorn, a different person to Pete Yorn, dead at 65,

So he was a musician w Richard Thompson, which pulls this into Fairport Convention discussions we've had in a couple threads. Look for another FC hit this year. It's symbiotic.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Swarb were to go this year.

I'm really going to have to stop doing this about people I like.

But will you continue to do it about people you don't like?

Dick Gaughan, Scottish folk singer, isn't sure but thinks he has had a stroke.

His agent says that they don't know exactly what, but something isn't right. Please donate to his crowdfunding page.

So I wondered what the .... is going on with Bruce Langhorne:

He is "too ill to walk along the beach", can't play guitar since his stroke in 2006, and gives an interview via telephone.

I don't mind folk music, it's fine by me in smaller doses. But I could name all the folk bands I know on one hand.

The Roches was one of them....a friend turned me into them about 1991. So this sucks.

RIP

Maggie Roche, the folk-rock singer-songwriter who since the mid-1970s had performed and recorded as a trio and in pairs with her two sisters, has died. Roche died of cancer, according to a statement posted online Saturday by her sister and bandmate Suzzy Roche. She was 65.

Liverpool Echo has covered it at least: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/tributes-paid-former-spinner-tony-12603338

I'd expect a Guardian obit at least...

Possibly a Last Word entrant but more importantly a unique for me on the DDP.

Aye, despite the BBC's long-time loyalty to his band in the seventies I reckon he'll be overlooked. Genial enough lot but the question is whether they contributed much of lasting value.

Oddly, if he'd been a Detroit Spinner...

If he gets the obit, this will finally bring some change to the top of the DDP scoreboard.

Poochie moves to joint 6th, and Drunkasaskunk will be 5th.

Surely, a Guardian obit will appear post-Easter?

For some reason, I thought he had cancer. But Wikipedia has him dying from stroke complications. He survived rather long in hospice, far longer than the 6 months imlied by hospice admission laws. Though at some point, I read that it was not a hospice but "merely" a care home. I might be reading it all wrong though.

Even if he outlived DDP usefulness for me, (that he lived so long after entering hospice was definitely one of my worst bits of DDP luck, bar the Martin Crowe thing) Langhorne still is one of my personal fav selections from my DDP history. The mix of being an interesting character (tidbits like losing several fingers when a school rocket project went awry) and the cool feeling of landing a name DDT mentioned years ago through your own research.

In other news The Guardian finally caught up with Tony Davis of The Spinners yesterday; near enough two months after he left the planet.
