I had him on my DDP shortlist in the day after he suffered a nasty stroke... in 2014.

Age at death: 102

Known health issues: Already frail and wheelchair bound, she survived a serious bout with COVID in 2020, which left permanent complocations.

Thích Nhất Hạnh (1926-2022)

Fuck Jimmy Karta! I hate you Jimmy Karta!

(Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh upon knowing he will never be the king of immortals)

image.jpeg.6ad56aea28a895d0b9620256f852eb04.jpeg

Age at death: 95

Known health issues: Suffered a stroke which would have killed two adult elephants at once in 2014. Wheelchair bound and utterly frail in his last years, he survived a bout of pneumonia which required various weeks of ICU in Thailand in fall 2019. This man has been dying and teaching "the art of undying" for years.

Cause of death: Natural causes.

Alignment: Nothing bad to say, he was a great man. An admired spiritual leader who did everything he could for peace in the world and, if I may say, understood things thousands of times better than those awful cardinals and ayatollahs. Long live to his teachings!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thích_Nhất_Hạnh

Vietnam has a different time zone and he died at midnight local time.

Which may be a simbolic time, IMHO.

Looking forward to seeing how long this trio will last. I don't get how none of them have died yet, especially Vitti who apparently originally started suffering from memory loss in the late 1980s. Seems like these three will go on forever. Same for Leslie Phillips who could've died at any time during the last ten years and nobody would've been suprised, still alive but very quiet (and has been for the last, what, 3 years or more?).

10)Wan Haifeng (1920): Chinese general and one of the last two members of Deng's advisory board. Bedridden and unable to speak for over two years.

These three are amazing. Shitu doesn't look his age at all despite his health history, Ajeery seems to have been bedbound and on oxygen six years ago at 95 (see this video

p1610738824_88016.jpg_b.thumb.jpg.0d39f2e37ecb6f3ecccd64d47f122fc9.jpg

Wan Haifeng apparently sent a 2021 new year's greeting video somewhere (couldn't find it) and looked like this. He looked like a corpse in 2015, how the hell is he still alive AND looks so great?

Also, Baghdad Bob seems to have been born in 1937 instead of 1940.

And I still have five names I'd like to drop here, not mentioned in this thread before...

Shyam Saran Negi (1917-2022) Old, occasionally very ill and bedbound but he's somehow still alive.

Thích Thanh Từ (1924-) Ancient Buddhist monk, looked frail and needed aid walking 14 years ago when Thich helped him walk. Still looks frail as hell but now in a wheelchair.

Robert Kuok (1923-) Ancient. Malaysia's top immortal, probably. If you don't count Mahathir M.

Silvia Pinal (1931-) Hospitalised on 22 Dec 2021 with low heart rate, high blood pressure, in ICU, catches covid in hospital, has pneumonia and urinary tract infection and phlegm in lungs. Discharged on 29 Dec 2021.

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (1937-) The former dictator of the Maldives was hospitalised in 2018 atleast twice due to "declining health" and was released on bail, probably due to his health. Spent new year 2020 in hospital due to a prolonged cold and infection, again hospitalised in August 2020 due to covid, discharged after 3 weeks.

Thanks for finding a recent pictures of Wan Haifeng, honestly thought he would look worse considering how his family was describing his situation.

If there are two people on the list I'd seriously doubt were still alive they would be Saleh Ajeery and Monica Vitti. Chris, how is it even remotely possible.

V. S. Achuthanandan now hospitalised with covid.

Vaccinated but on the other hand, probably extremely frail.

Discharged.

Article from last week on Ma Shitu, 107 today. Doesn't have new pictures but seems like he's still writing and will have a birthday celebration. However his 97-year old friend, Mao Dun Literature Prize winning novelist Wang Huo is in bad health due to multiple myocardial infections and can't attend that party.

Wang Huo seems quite well, as he is able to stand and walk unaided.

My list of immortal-candidates, some with more health issues and some with less, most could be considered if they're still alive in around a year or two:

Margarita Terekhova (born 1942) Russian actress. Alzheimer's since 2006, some reports say that it started to affect her badly in 2011 and still not dead. Couldn't recognize any of her family members in 2019, can't speak, bedridden and her family doesn't have money for her treatment.

https://www.womanhit.ru/stars/news/2022-01-25-tjazhelobolnaja-aktrisa-margarita-terehova-zarazilas-covid19/

Margarita Terekhova had a bout of covid recently. Family says it was "scary" but she survived it despite being in late stages of Alzheimer's bedridden and unable to talk.

And also updated the October candidates list for the death of Isabel Robalino.

Where did I say he has died? I said a 108-year old man (Cosimo Giuseppe Cammeo) died, not him.

Now with another death from Calabria, Domenico Antonio Fonti, aged 109, Boris Pahor is the 4th oldest living man in Italy.
