Queen Camilla

It's quite the turnaround don't you think?

Camilla was a pariah when she jumped on the heir apparent's bones, now apparently the British public have taken her to their hearts.

Harry on the other hand, one of the most popular royals, now being seen as a modern day Duke of Windsor to be jeered at.

Hah! Some of us are quite consistent though. It didn't bother me that Charles and Camilla were shagging (it wasn't my marriage, it's not my business) but thought the whole one party wronged thing was bollocks when Diana was off with that Hewitt fellow and others. Anyhow Diana's dead and after, what, 40 years, Charlie and Cam are clearly quite besotted so more power to them, that's longer than most couples last these days! Harry I always thought was a bit of harmless mad bastard, that's when he was into his Nazi dress up phase, his war vet/charity hero phase, his get hitched to an actress phase and so on. The press went from criticising him to loving him back to criticising him so probably in another decade's time he'll be back to being loved and if I'm still about I'll still think he's a mad bastard.

Not for me.  I've always thought Camilla seemed like a good sort, and that it was a shame that Charles didn't marry her way back when.

It was a different time when the old traditional Royals controlled things, and they had fixed ideas about who Charles should marry.

I never had much time for Diana, and I'm glad that Charles and Camilla were finally able to get together as they are clearly soul-mates.

As for Harry, he's a typical "spare".  He would probably have been all right if Chelsey Wossname had accepted him and they had been allowed to retreat into the background.  She understandably never wanted to be part of the royal circus and was honest enough to walk away before any commitment was made.

Her dad's links to Robert Mugabe would have been a big impediment through.

Easiest way to wind up the "Diana woz Queen of AR HARTZ" brigade is to give them a link to the Wikipedia article for Princess of Wales:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_of_Wales

And without a change in law and assuming she is still around when Charles ascends, she will be Queen. And a much better one than the dopey, big-conked seat belt denier.

Indeed.Ask Julia Carling ex wife of Will Carling how she felt about Princess Diana cultivating a victim eternally wronged woman status given her affair with her husband.

It seems Diana was more relaxed about there being three of us in a marriage when it suited....

Not if they weren't working Royals, as I suggested.  Anyway there are plenty of embarrassing in-laws to be found around the RF.

The Duchess of Cornwall reportedly will never forgive  Prince Harry and Meghan for how they have treated  Prince Charles.

There has been some talk over the years that bearing a grudge,   particularly with intensity and or not  forgiving can have negative health implications in some people. Hence  possible  health implications for Camilla if the reports are true being relevant to the thread....

Thats not true. I'm a Royal observer and I couldn't give a fuck.

Also, if holding grudges limits life expectancy I'd have been still born.

There is a saying that laughter is the best medicine.  If that's even partially  correct and this story about  Joe Biden farting loudly in front of Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall  in Glasgow at COP26  is true ...then Camillas health has just received a massive  boost.

Don't be confused  @Ulitzer95 it's been much discussed on twitter tonight and there is an article on it in the Mail on Sunday. Apparently  Camilla hasn't been able to stop laughing  about it since!!

I just think it’s a bit disgusting and a tad sad tbh. He’s a senile sleepy old man who belongs in a care home, not running a superpower.

The man can’t even control his own wind, I don’t have much faith for him when it comes to renewables!

Article is about her speaking at a reception commemorating International Women's Day, and you come out with that. Bravo. -_-

Don't get this calling women "horses" thing. People do it with Sarah Jessica Parker and Heather Mills as well. Would you say a man looks like a horse? Never heard anyone use that comparison, so it's just pure misogyny really.

Jimmy Hill. Bruce Forsyth. Plenty out there in the past.

Little bit of flippancy never hurt anyone. Especially not the Duchess.

Easy target, that's why. Permissible when it's royalty or politicians or celebrities you don't like?

I'm not even a woman, and I feel a little disturbed coming on here and seeing men of a particular age (and it's almost always the men on here in the 40/50+ bracket) calling women they're not keen on bitches/cows/horses – words you cannot and wouldn't apply to men. Is it any wonder we have few female members...

I reckon you could be a closeted Camilla  fan really- I'd say there are plenty of them about !

I bet you would really love and enjoy a boozy,  bawdy , raucous drinking session with her when shes off duty! Apparently  she is a real good laugh when socialising...

I'm afraid you are attributing character traits to me that simply do not exist.

I'll suggest the reason why we don't have as many members - it's the modern social media way. Any kind of opinion that is disagreed with often isn't met with a reasoned argument to the contrary - it's met with a personal attack, and in some cases applying their own prejudices to other folk. And that isn't restricted to people of a certain age. Or gender. Folk are allowed to disagree with each other, but a simple response of "well, you are cunt" means the respondee simply doesn't have the capacity to put forward their own argument. I've got over the whole "you've attacked me, so I'll attack you" hokey cokey to which this place sometimes descends.

You would think, watching the current news, that people would be a little more respectful to each other. We can disagree on things and I'd respect the argument, but if people continually stoke disaffection on their way to their inevitable death, then they are wasting their time.

Now, sometimes there will be the odd bit of comedy gold that passes people by - recognising a flip, ironic, or sarcastic comment played for laughs might be an issue for some. Yes, I've been thinking about this a lot, so thanks for the excuse.

Now, tell me that Basil calling Sybil a fire breathing dragon isn't funny and I'll call you a liar. ;)

I actually meant because she hung around with horses all the time. Seems to have been taken the wrong way...perhaps deliberately, ;)

I was actually meaning she has a naughty sense of humour as do you  so even if you are a republican  or a big Diana fan who thinks Camilla can 'never be forgiven'  - I think despite that you would really enjoy being in her company  as I'm sure she would disarm you!:D

I think Camilla could even disarm  the likes  of @Lord Fellatio Nelson who also has a bit of a potty mouth  and sense of humour!

See what I mean, folks?

S(h)e just called me a liar. (Notice how I didn't presume the gender there? Knowing my luck, they'll not honour pronouns ha!)

And that friends has just proved my point.
