Guest deathgal Posted June 2, 2005 George Mikan a former Minneapolis Lakers player died last night. He was 80 years old and had been suffering from diabetes and kidney failure. During a 9 year professional career in the 1950s, the 6"10 Mikan emerged as the first "big" or tall man in professional basketball.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted June 2, 2005 There was a show on him recently on how he was ill and needed more money to pay his health exspenses. It was on how the NBA gave smaller salerys to players who retired prior to 1955. He had to sell alot of his trophies and memorobillia to pay his health bills. http://sportsillustrated.netscape.cnn.com/sports/nba.jsp Another miss for the dl

Lady Die 63 Posted June 3, 2005 Michalis Yenitsaris - Bouzouki-player of iconic status Michalis Yenitsaris, bouzouki-player and songwriter: born Piraeus, Greece 15 June 1917; died Piraeus 11 May 2005. Michalis Yenitsaris was the last and most colourful survivor of the first generation of professional bouzouki-players, and was well known to devotees of rebetika, the genre of Greek music (and latterly world music) often called "Greek blues". Magere Hein 1,399 Posted June 3, 2005 Michalis Yenitsaris - Bouzouki-player of iconic status Oh. First time I heard of him. Of course, this may have something to do with the fact that I try to avoid such crimes against humanity. There are few weapons as gruesome as a bouzouki, maybe bagpipes. regards, Hein
Lady Die 63 Posted June 3, 2005 I confess I hadn't heard of him either but I like the idea of someone being simultaneously iconic and a bazouki player.

In the case of the bazooka's it's quite clear from the name and bagpipes are designed to put the fear of God in the enemy, aren't they? regards, Hein

He was seen online at the same time as DLB, supporting my theory that they aren't the same person. Very similar to one another in some general ways, though. What is it you people have about mutilating men's private parts? Oops. Just found a whole new thread entitled 'Anne Bancroft'. Look before you leap... Still new here (if that's any defence). You show promise though, Mr. Rick for even considering such things. Actually this thread is probably the right place for Anne Bancroft rather than giving her her own new thread.
