I believe she's already mentioned a couple of times, but I would like to suggest Miep Gies (and see Miep Gies)! She'll be 98 next year!

Anyone considered John Inman for inclusion next year? He's got to be somewhere about 70 now?

Pete Doherty - Babyshambles singer. Pretty self-destructive chap- It could take as little as a bad review of one of his lousy songs to just give him that little nudge to do something fantastically silly. Of course, there's always the possibility of accidental death by overdosing on cocaine/booze/skag whatever else he wants to pump into his body.

Final nominee would be Keith Richards of the Stones- although I really pray I'm wrong. I saw on the tely just recently that he's been rather ill.

Anyhoo, a very happy new year to all and here's hoping for an '03 beating haul of celebrity corpses.

Fantasy Death League...interesting!

Here's a suggestion - give an aggregate age limit. Say the Average would be 80

and you pick 10 - so the total number of years would be 800 and no team can exceed that total.

Better hurry up though, or you can drum up support and wait for another fixed date in 2007...

:(

Nope - has to go to March. Too many have January, Alphonsin has February, so March it is. :(

Well, my idea is to attribute a cash value to each celeb and give players a budget to buy a death squad. Plus, there'll be categories such as sport, music, film and politics and you have to have at least a couple of celebs from each category. So pretty much like fantasy football, but more morbid.

It would take an age to analyse all the names on this list, but a lot of them really are in quite fine fettle. BB King, for instance, might be quite a big chap but he's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke and doesn't drink. He's had his farewell tour, but only this year. I don't think he'll expire in 2007, and neither will the Queen, that parasite'll probably live as long as her decrepit mother did.

As for Tom Finney, being from Preston he's like royalty round these parts. His wife died a couple of years ago but since then has continued to appear at Preston North End functions and is often on the pitch making appearances at half-time. He ain't gonna die next year. He did have an op and spent a few days in hospital earlier this year but it was nowt serious by all accounts and the fella appears to be back to full fitness now.

Some of those are worth consideration though, Deborah Kerr for instance is one of the first names on my list.

The former West German footballer, Helmut Haller was in intensive care after a heart attack.

The 67-year-old, who scored the opening goal in the 1966 World Cup final against England at Wembley, is in a serious condition.

"I am very worried," his son Jurgen told journalists. "My father is not very well at all."

Might be a good sub for Alfredo di Stefano for '07,

Haller might be more inclined to take an early bath.

Guest Monsignor Leslie
Albert Gubay,78 year-old multimilionnaire founder of Kwik Save and Isle of Man resident is said to be in poor health in today's paper. I hadn't heard of him either but I'm sure he'd get an obit.

......Glad to hear that, Albert Gubay is/was a waste of space..........who will be Isle of Man Governments new employer?!!

Well, indeed. And my complete list is about twice that length, but that's just the list I'm offering to my players rather than my actual picks. For some interesting picks, I'd probably be looking at:

Michael Foot

Humphrey Lyttleton

Harold Pinter

Richard O'Sullivan

Don van Vliet (Captain Beefheart)

Jeremy Thorpe

Peter Sallis

Lucien Freud

Tony Hart

..plus the usual 1910's suspects.

... if Jack Brabham was carking it soon. Looks in good shape at his 80th party. Was racing in his seventies at a fairly high standard.

Jack's 1967 team mate and world champion Denny Hulme looked pretty good when he started his last race. Died of a heart attack during the race, aged only 56. Jack needs a better recommendation than "looks in good shape."

Now Recovering & out of ICU

Right, that means my DDP team is finally decided. Haller stays out - I think he'll do a di Stefano and hang around a little while longer.

Anyway, I have to name my final team tonight as I'm out most of the day tomorrow.

AUGSBURG, Germany (AP) - Helmut Haller, who scored the first goal in the 1966 World Cup final, was released from intensive care Saturday, one day after having a heart attack.

The 67-year-old Haller, who played 33 games for Germany, including the 4-2 loss to England in the 1966 final, is expected to remain in the hospital for another week.

"Hopefully, he is on the way to recovering," his son Juergen said.

I agree with the recent guest-poster about Lady Bird Johnson. I think she'll be one of the first successes of 2007.
