In the case of the coins, not until next year. Banknotes and stamps, in the next few weeks maybe.

RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted September 8, 2022 Can't believe I'm saying this but BoJo the Clown's statement just put the Prime Minister's to shame. Still glad he didn't get to deliver it from a lectern, mind.

The title now resides with the Crown until he chooses to bestow it on someone else (probably William).

Compared to Truss he is around 50 points higher on the IQ scale.

Talkative Finn 47 Posted September 8, 2022 No, at least a male heir apparent automatically becomes The Duke of Cornwall the moment his parent assume the throne. The Prince of Wales -title comes only if the Sovereign so chooses. Edward VII waited for several months before creating future George V The Prince of Wales, even though he deeply respected his heir.

marklv 41 Posted September 8, 2022 I was proved wrong. I was under the impression that Charles would become George VII - I believe this was his original intention. I suppose his advisers thought it better to continue for him to be known as Charles.

There's really only the two Berties who chose not to reign in their first name. Queen Victoria would not have been amused! although she herself went by her second name.
