Phantom 2,535 Posted July 9, 2007 Kinda fitting if a singer his age pegs out at 78! not sure how it's fitting for Hazlewood to sign out at the age of 78.
Windsor 2,233 Posted July 9, 2007 Hey, I just noticed something. Happy 78th birthday Lee! No birthday news stories yet though... Ah ha - perhaps that is why his name was mentioned on the radio this morning. The radio station is rather awful for doing that as an excuse to play old records. Still, I would much rather they were comemorating his deathday over his birthday!

maryportfuncity 10,657 Posted July 10, 2007 Kinda fitting if a singer his age pegs out at 78! not sure how it's fitting for Hazlewood to sign out at the age of 78. Because when Hazlewood was growing up his best chance of hearing singers would have been on records, all of which - in those days - played at 78 rpm.

Anyhow, no mention of his birthday in the news under the correct spelling of his name - one brief one under "Lee Hazelwood." Make of that what you will. Banshees Scream 110 Posted July 11, 2007 Paul Ay, I was kidding. (Really) In the end I could do better stand up then you and get more women afterwards. On stage I bet you would be shaking more then Michael J Fox dude. So think twice next time about trying to make me look like the asshole. Canadian Paul 97 Posted July 11, 2007 Paul Ay, I was kidding. (Really) In the end I could do better stand up then you. Probably. But in my defense, I never claimed otherwise. and get more women afterwards Well yeah, but it's a lot easier when their tied up. On stage I bet you would be shaking more then Michael J Fox dude. So think twice next time about trying to make me look like the asshole. I don't pretend to be a comedy genius, but here's a free comedy tip. If you can't laugh at yourself, it's difficult to make others laugh. Okay, I've had my little DL spat. Time to get back on topic - though the only news I suppose is that there is no news. Reminds me of Ross Davidson.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted July 11, 2007 I don't pretend to be a comedy genius, but here's a free comedy tip. If you can't laugh at yourself, it's difficult to make others laugh. Paul Ay, last night I was up watching South Park and I haven't seen the show in a while but it was the episode where Kyle's little Canadian brother Ike is stashed by his real parents and placed back in Canada since the prime minister set a new family of rules. Kyle attempts to bag him back to Colorado before Christmas, but meanwhile Eric - Kenny - and Stan all meet strange Canadians that dance and sing and the setting all of a sudden overtakes the 'Wizard Of Oz' theme as they tell them to follow the Canadian road 'The only road' it reminded me of you. (Don't know if you've seen it) One of the the best parts to me was when they crossed the French-Canadian border. (You understand)

Canadian Paul 97 Posted August 5, 2007 Bloggers claim that Lee Hazlewood is now död Nordic languages are not, however, my forte.
Windsor 2,233 Posted August 5, 2007 Fingers crossed. For what it's worth wiki says: Lee Hazlewood (born Barton Lee Hazlewood, 9 July 1929, Mannford, Oklahoma), (died peacefully at home 4 August 2007, Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American country singer, songwriter, and record producer. Octopus of Odstock 2,203 Posted August 5, 2007 Although July has been exemplary for the Death List, that's a bit of a bad miss by the Committee. Kudos to Anubis for pointing it out - I think he's 3rd in the DDP now. I think I'm joint 5th. DDT has got.. what 5 in 3 weeks? It's hard now Hazlewood has gone to really pick cast-iron candidates for either CPDP or for 2008. But, then it should be wide open next year, especially with all naughty Iraqis hanged by then. Has Hazlewood actually died? I'm still trying to find a conclusive report He's my #2 pick on our family's draft so I'm hoping that if he is dead, it will be followed by Joern Utzon

Octopus of Odstock 2,203 Posted August 5, 2007 He's my #2 pick on our family's draft so I'm hoping that if he is dead, it will be followed by Joern Utzon Last I heard Utzon was in very good general health and spirits and in a rest home (so no unexpected falls) - but has that eye condition - the same one Peter Sallis has. Utzon update As for Hazlewood, it's not been announced to the news agencies, but when 22 blogs all say the same thing, I think it's more than likely he has died. Expect it to hit the news agencies tonight. Farewell Lee Hazlewood.

Farewell Lee Hazlewood. hmmm well Hazlewood was in good spirits throughout the year. so who knows if Utzon was to trip and fall the same way that Vonnegut did earlier in the year. I just hadn't had a hit on the draft since Benny Parson died back in January, all my other hits have been on the main sweepstakes
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,689 Posted August 5, 2007 It’s not quite official yet, but I think we can safely assume the clogs have been popped. I was lobbying hard for his 2007 inclusion, but was rebuffed with the old ‘not famous enough’ chestnut from a certain committee member. Talented oddball, RIP (Lee, not the committee member). Guest Guest Posted August 5, 2007 RIP Hazlewood. (1929 - 2007) This means, points for the teams who picked him for the DDP and who had them on their shadowlists.
Windsor 2,233 Posted August 5, 2007 If he has died, they are certainly taking their time in announcing the death. What's the bet the bloggers used the wiki page as their oringinal source?

Yeah, but don't forget it took 2 weeks before the death of Robert Earl Jones was formerly annonued
