Phantom 2,533 Posted August 15, 2006 Aye, relax Phantom, it's a good story either way. Whatever happened to the appeal he was making earlier in the year? I saw the initial photos and the comment made by his son, then everything just went quiet
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted August 15, 2006 He was turned down initially and - I think - the full appeal never happened becuase it would have required evidence that the original hearing was flawed and/or new evidence. Biggs team are pinning their hopes on a petition that'll bring in higher powers - like the crown and the government - they gave an exclusive to The Mirror. After which it's all gone quiet. Yer man doesn't look completely helpless in the picture with the article.

Yer man doesn't look completely helpless in the picture with the article. That was the newspaper article that I read, it was just strange not having heard anything further about it. He does look frail in the photo but not to the extreme where He is unable to walk and spends most of his time wired to a heart monitor and feeding drip or "He can barely breathe and can't walk more than 10 yards
Banshees Scream 110 Posted August 22, 2006 Happy 77th to the Train Robber! Wonder if the birthday will stir up any news about his health... it's been awfully quiet... The answer is No. We all remain waiting. For some reason I think he is taking the image of Pope John Paul, that same image of longevity, hopefully it won't be another 4 years. maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted August 22, 2006 Definitely won't be another four years, won't be this week either.
Guest None Posted November 11, 2006 If anyone sees Ronnie Biggs, please tell him that he has a namesake at the University of Memphis, a Secretary in the Department of History who would like to chat with him. Please go to the University of Memphis website and do a people search for the email address.
bobtoole 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Okay, I'm new to the site. I have Biggs in my Dead Pool and our draft is this Monday. Yes, I've poured over the British papers, and haven't found anything new. Anyone have any updates on the old fella? Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm from the States, so there's not going to be info on the news of his latest ailment, that's why I'm seeking your help. Think of him as a British Dr. Kevorkian or Tariq Aziz. Alleged to be "near death" but when there is an official review into their health, they're found, swiftly, to be "old, but well". Or that's my take on it anyway...
Canadian Paul 97 Posted December 9, 2006 Since there's no news on Ronnie, why not read about the day a journalist met Ronnie Biggs in a gay bar in Rio (seriously).
Banshees Scream 110 Posted January 7, 2007 Theres nothing really to say, but you just can't leave him off the list.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted January 7, 2007 I agree BS, I'm sticking to this one doggedly as a deadpool pick, he won't let us down this year, will he?
Banshees Scream 110 Posted January 8, 2007 I agree BS, I'm sticking to this one doggedly as a deadpool pick, he won't let us down this year, will he? I remember talk of August 2005, everybody and I mean everybody had there fingers crossed that he was going down. But he didn't. And sometimes I think he may be the long lasting survivor of Deathlist, the Pope as an ambassador. I could see him living into his eighties but when he goes he goes, and the bottom line is that he belongs to this years Deathlist. Then you also have Maurice Papon who was let go from jail and placed into medical care. It's a sure thing in my book he is done for. I have selected him to a few deadpools and at 96\97 he should be a hit. But unfortunately he is not apart of this list.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 20, 2007 Biggs still chatting away in prison.
King Whoopass 0 Posted January 21, 2007 Biggs still chatting away in prison. It'd be better if he was passing away. I didn't pick him this year but I still think he's a twunt a probably deserves to go.
Guest David Posted January 26, 2007 Could he be the first death this year, after news today that he has suffered a major heart attack? Report in today's London Evening Standard states from his friend that he is desperately ill. Prison sources state that Biggs is "stable" Will he, won't he? I would certainly expect so. He can't live much longer, not the state he's in. He can't talk, he's paralysed, he's had MRSA, several strokes, a heart attack and some sort of trouble with his stomach. I'd say he's a definite bet. Phantom 2,533 Posted January 26, 2007 Mebbe John Reid's latest policy initiative will see him released, and the shock will kill him. I still see no reason to keep Biggs locked up. He's hardly a menace to society. Unless they want to prevent him from teaming up with John Lydon again to release another single.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted January 26, 2007 He replaced Lydon, technincally speaking. They were a band with no singer when they cut the track with him. A remake would be interesting now eh? Very much in the punk spirit.

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted February 5, 2007 Despite his stickability I posted his name all over my DP choices this year, yeah; we're non of us immortal and I suspect we'll hear more and more inside information about how poorly he is. I'm guessing he'll leave jail before he dies because their medical facilities won't be able to keep him stable.
Guest David Posted February 18, 2007 I say let him go. What harm can the old man do. Who really cares what he has done in the past, hes a dying man, and he should be with his family! i just hope his family get him out of jail, and back home where he should be. Im all for letting Ronnie Biggs out, and free in his own turff again. GO RONNIE! Be strong! and lookin forward to your freedom. I quite agree,=. It's pointless keeping an elderly, dying man locked up. He won't pose much threat if he can't talk, eat or walk unescorted. Hold on, Ron. You'll win.
Guest David Posted February 18, 2007 Is Biggs the last surviving member of the gang? I know Bruce Reynolds and Buster Edwards died, but I can't remember how many others there were (it's a long time since I've seen the film). Bruce Reynolds is still alive - but Buster Edwards passed on.
