Ken MacAulay, a single-cap winner for Scotland has died a day after completing a 1000-mile charity cycle ride, cardiac arrest.

Some notable rugby union deaths this month:

Ron Glasgow OBE (wiki), international for Scotland (10 appearances, 1962–65), died on 6th October, aged 93. Scotsman obit

Joe Gaston (wiki), international for Ireland (8 appearances, 1954–56), died on 19th October, aged 93. Death notice

Amongst the oldest living players for their respective nations.

In short, played for a Scotland XV versus a French Select team in 1980. It wasn't recognised as a cap at the time, but earlier this year he was awarded a retrospective cap as presumably World or Scottish rugby recognised it as a cap-winning game.

Yeah he said the retrospective cap this year made him think he needed to be more active with charity runs despite "not being a spring chicken" or very active for his age.

 

Which seems like a bit of an error in hindsight!

While that's not a terrible idea, he probably should have checked with his doctors to make sure something like this wouldn't have happened... Me thinks he didn't.
