He played college football for the Washington State Cougars, was born in Yakima, Washington and died in Seattle, Washington at age 64, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys From 1986 to 1992, Pelluer served as a defensive assistant coach at Boise State University. From 1993 to 1995, he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Northern Arizona University. He played in the NFL for the Houston Oilers and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a member of the Calgary Stampeders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. The longest possible punt in the NFL would be 99 yards (more likely 98), because with the roll and bounce etc if it went into the end zone it would be a touchback (ie a dead ball). He played for one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL and for several different teams in the CFL, most notably the Montreal Alouettes from 1972-1979; he won two Gray Cup championships with the Alouettes and one with the Edmonton Eskimos. He was drafted in the 1970 NFL Draft in West Virginia, where he captained the Mountaineers to a 10-1 record in 1969 and a Peach Bowl victory; he was named MVP in the game. He coached in the National Football League (NFL) for 22 years and was a college football coach for 16 years. worked as defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints from 1986 to 1994. In that nine-year period, the Saints twice led the league in fewest points allowed (1991, 1992), rushing defense (1989) and pass defense. (1992, 1993); this era of Saints defenses was dubbed the Dome Patrol. Most recently, he was an assistant coach for the Toronto Argonauts. He is a five-time champion of the Gray Cup, all as a defensive coordinator, and a former coach of the Argonauts. He has coached since the 1970s and has coached in high school, NCAA, Arena Football League and CFL. He made 5 All-Pro teams, 6 Pro Bowls, and was on the 1960s all-decade team.
