American Football Players

This has not been a good week for ex-Houston Texans players. Ironically they are the NFL’s newest franchise.

Word going around is Johnie Cooks has been in an ICU for several weeks with heart problems.
Ten year NFL career, #2 overall pick in the 1982 NFL draft, won a Super Bowl while playing in New York. He could garner an obit for any pools that include American sources. Probably inconsequential. No link, unfortunately.

Johnie Cooks dead at 64. A DDP qualifying obituary as well it appears.

His 108-yard punt is a feat only the CFL could claim, as those dopes have a 55-yard line, making the gridiron 110 yards in length.  The longest possible punt in the NFL would be 99 yards (more likely 98), because with the roll and bounce etc if it went into the end zone it would be a touchback (ie a dead ball).
