time 8,618 Posted January 18, 2017 He didn't get a QO too, iirc, which given his status as a Deathlist alumni, astounded me. I doubt his status as a DL alumnus had any bearing on his obitability tbh. We're surely not that influential! That's not what he meant. One of the criteria for being a DL pick is the person's death is likely to get a mention in the six o clock news. I know. I am not as thick as you appear to think I am.
Cat O'Falk 3,290 Posted January 18, 2017 He didn't get a QO too, iirc, which given his status as a Deathlist alumnus, astounded me. [pedantry] FTFY [/pedantry] Alumni is plural. Or should that be "are plural"? Damn. It'll eventually go the same way as agendum; the singular will disappear, the plural will become a singular and the plural will be pluralised. Agendum, agenda, agendas. Alumnus, alumni, alumnis. Then Keith Lemon will say alumnises.

Or should that be "are plural"? Damn. I missed this post at the time, but actually, this is one which had escaped my notice and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. (There is no sarcasm in this post, even if it reads that way! This is why any writer who says "I don't need editors" is a bloody fool, incidentally...)
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 19, 2017 He didn't get a QO too, iirc, which given his status as a Deathlist alumni, astounded me. I've heard it argued here that there should have been doubts he was going to obit. Bullshit. It's astonishing and a miscarriage of journalism that your U.K. tabloids didn't print an obit for the lead singer of Toto. They had international #1 hits. Along with Bockwinkle, I don't get it. Maybe knowing more of the events of those dates may help--maybe big stories that pushed these deaths out of space in the print cycle. SC

He was the replacement frontman of Toto about five years after their heyday. It'd be like expecting a New York Times frontpage obit for the guy who does vocals in Bruce Foxton's band that do Jam covers.
