John Muckler, who helped put together the 1980s Edmonton Oilers dynasty, working his way up to becoming head coach for their last Stanley Cup before serving head coach for Buffalo and, later the New York Rangers, during the 1990s, has died. He was 86.

Could be nothing more than a clash with management, but Pittsburgh Penguins GM Jim Rutherford resigned abruptly today 'for personal reasons' only 7 games into the new NHL season.  He had been GM since 2014 and won two Stanley Cups.

Follow the team.  It's the only team I follow.  The resignation was not health related.

Of those only Pavelich and Crozier could (should) QO.  Stasiuk if it’s a slow news day.  The Inverness Courier and Ross-Shire Journal might confuse McLeod as part of Clan McLeod and give a write-up.

Glenn Hall is the only one who will. Very far shot of Pavelich. When's the last time an old non-Hall of Famer QOed?

I'm seriously questioning your sense of humor if you find this and the death of Walter Gretzky funny

Only American player ever to score five goals in an NHL game, when he was with the Rangers.

I’m a San Jose Sharks fan since the team’s founding, and he also has a minor claim to fame in their history too, with an assist on the first goal they ever scored. RIP

Interesting thing(s) about the list of 67 NHL players who have scored 5 goals in a game.  Up until 2 March 1982, every single player (45 of them) who had accomplished the feat was Canadian-born.
Then the next four in succession were from Sweden-USA-Finland-Sweden, Pavelich being the American as noted.

Then it was exclusively Canadians making the list again until March 1992. Odd, that little insurrection of non-Canadians there, don’t ya think?

Well, rule changes etc seem to have made the 5-goal game a rarity now.  Since March 1996 it has happened only 5 times, and not a single one from a Canuck!
