Bobby Schmautz has died at 76.

in his 13 year nhl career he amassed 557 points (271 goals, 286 assists).

he famously scored the OT winning goal in Game 4 of the 1978 cup finals to keep boston alive.

Johnny Peirson, who played 545 games in the NHL from the late 1940s to late 1950s, entirely with the Boston Bruins, later becoming a colour commentator on Bruins games for 18 years, has died. He was 95.

Gilles Lupien, who played 226 games from the late 1970s to the early 1980s split between the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Hartford Whalers before going on to become an in-demand player agent, has died. He was 67. Lupien, who stood 6'6'', became the tallest ever NHLer when he entered the league. Others have since eclipsed the record.

Died running from a hot tub because he thought fireworks were landing close by, slipped and hit his head on a concrete slab.

Official cause of death being caused by the firework blast and not the fall.

The Pentti Isotalo award given to Ice Hockey referees was named after him.

Hockey Hall of Famer and the voice of hockey in Pittsburgh for the last 46 years, Mike Lange, has announced his retirement.  He's had a number of health issues in the past few years and has a rather frail appearance, these days.  Love the man and hope he has many years left... but I'm not optimistic.

Rod Gilbert, a Hockey Hall of Famer and the New York Rangers all-time leader in points, has died. He was 80. Gilbert played 1,065 games, all with the Rangers. He retired with 1021 points.
