William Joseph 'Bill' Whelan, a noted British-born American biochemist, has died. He was 96.  Despite what the announcement in the link below says, his date of death was June 5th, 2021, not July 5th, 2021. Unless his biochemistry abilities allow him to remain in chemical stasis until July 5th, at which point he could delay his death, thus making the statement retroactively accurate.  (I have been watching too much Big Bang Theory.)

Quite a pedigree from the obit reported.

I'll leave it to Scrabble fanatic @DevonDeathTrip to correct me if wrong, but I believe the psychologist's (like I'm trying to spell that even with it written in front of me!) name is still over 30 points behind his age of 87.

Father of modern politology Anthony Downs died at 90 on October 2.

1957 An Economic Theory of Democracy is still the most influential politology work of the last century. Downs was a giant in his field.
