Who Should Be on the 2012 DeathList?

Recommended Posts

HI

I think Michael Shumacher is beginning to look a pretty good bet, he has had nearly 3 years of (for him) poor performance and is showing signs of frustration in his driving. This usually turns into attempting to bully the other drivers off the track, the trouble with this is that the newer drivers are at least as aggressive as he is, and don't tend to give way, the result will be one big prang sooner or later. The only flaw in this I can see is that the cars are getting so crash resistant that he may survive.

Best regards

Syd

Isn't this just another ideas and possibilities thread under a different guise?

Just a bit more pertinent. Ideas and Possibilities is more about the heath and status of celebs which might be in the next year's list. This is much more a debate as to whose actually going in, with a couple of weeks until D-Day...

Either way, it's akin to taking Stevie Wonder around the Louvre or appointing Beckham to the CERN committee, believe me. I know who picks the list and I know how likely they are to either read or take the blindest bit of notice*. Still, it's all good fun and I'll try and come up with my own list of ten before the year's out.

* with the possible exception of Welshy

Here’s an alphabet-encompassing fine 50 full of familiar friends and a few fresh faces:

Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi

Dicky Attenborough

Ronnie Biggs

Chuck Berry

Frank Carson

Lord Peter Carrington

Clive Dunn

Kirk Douglas

John Edrich

Harlan Ellison

Lawrence Ferlinghetti

Joan Fontaine

Zsa Zsa Gabor

Robin Gibb

Johannes Heesters

Geoffrey Hughes

Guy Innes-Ker

Etta James

General Jaruzelski

Hamed Karzai

Robert Kee

Jerry Lee Lewis

Lula

Nelson Mandela

Penny Marshall

Oscar Niemeyer

Denis Norden

John Oaksey

Richard O’Sullivan

Reg Presley

Joe Paterno

Queen Elizabeth II

Mickey Rooney

Nancy Reagan

Yitzhak Shamir

Eric Sykes

Margaret Thatcher

Frank Thornton

Doku Umarov

Gudrun Ure

Dick Van Dyke

Gore Vidal

Sid Waddell

Betty White

There is no-one remotely famous beginning with X, let alone one who’s going to die in 2012

Jimmy Young

Chuck Yeager

Franco Zeffirelli

Efrem Zimbalist

Ok, it’s only 48, but I think it feels pretty DLy and not overly Britcentric. And Dicky O - as Clive's heir apparent, he's got to make an appearance sometime.

A colerful list far from immaculate as our ideas should influence the committees judgement. (I hope Al-Megrahi isn't first on the 2012 list)

How about Jerry Maren? at 93, he's looking more and more frail these days

Would be good if we had a munchkin on the list

Lights, camera, action...fin. I'd be delighted to see either of the great British cinematographers Gil Taylor or Oswald Morris make the list, if only to add a soupçon of class.

I would never dream of using garish underhand tactics to influence the committee, my dwarf-lobbing little chum.

Ron Paul i think a lot of people will want him dead if he starts to get close to the presidency , also after amy winehouse and gary speed this year i think paul gascoigne would be a good choice he has the combination of addiction and depression .

I've yet to see any evidence of either addiction or depression re Gary Speed.

I can't tell if you're joking or not im chain smoking cigarettes trying to figure it out . :smoking-smiley:

If only it was possible to put cartoon characters, I'd nominate Caillou. But at 4 he's too young to be put on the list.
