Phantom 2,569 Posted December 23, 2011 Prince Phillip in hospital... He is known to suffer from a serious heart condition...so this is not good news at all (depending on your opinion of course). Margaret Thatcher also suffers from a serious heart condition, total lack of heart.

Guest Guest Posted December 23, 2011 Surgery for a blocked artery is no small matter for a man of that age and you can't rule out complications but I think that deathwatchers can put this one on the back burner.
Windsor 2,300 Posted December 23, 2011 If PP dies, does anyone think that might make a dent in the Queen's health? No.The Queen mum outlived her husband by 50 years Yes - but she wasn't 85 when he died - she was only 51. Nor was she married to him for 64 years. It is also well documented that the Queen Mother was the 'strong' one in her marriage, whereas it has been suggested that the Duke is the source of much of the Queen's confidence. I think that if/when Phil goes first, QE2 will follow quite quickly.

Guest dsdssd Posted December 24, 2011 I knew something like this was coming. He looked so frail at the wedding and before that. This is one of his first steps towards death. My guess is that the final death will come around 2015.

Davey Jones' Locker 1,325 Posted December 24, 2011 Here is the latest (not much new info): Queen Elizabeth II and her children have visited Prince Philip in hospital, where he is recovering from heart surgery. The Duke of Edinburgh was treated for a blocked coronary artery after he was taken to hospital suffering from chest pains on Friday. Heir to the throne Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne joined the Queen at the Duke's bedside at Papworth Hospital near Cambridge in eastern England, Buckingham Palace said. "The Duke of Edinburgh had a good night and is in good spirits but he is eager to leave," a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman told reporters outside the hospital. The 90-year-old, Britain's longest serving royal consort, was airlifted from the Sandringham estate, in eastern England, where the Royals were celebrating Christmas. The 85-year-old Queen, Andrew and Edward and Anne flew by helicopter from Sandringham to the hospital and spent 45 minutes with the Duke, the palace spokeswoman said. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla arrived later at the hospital from their Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, south-west England, for a separate visit. The Queen's husband will spend at least one more night under observation and is likely to miss much of the traditional festivities at Sandringham. He was set to remain in hospital under observation for a "short period", the palace said without elaborating, but reports suggest he could be kept in hospital for up to five days. Davey Jones' Locker 1,325 Posted December 25, 2011 Interestingly, they are saying on the radio over here that when he had the same procedure three years ago, none of the family came to the hospital to visit him. The fact that everyone has gone in this time might be an indicator that things are more serious than they are letting on. Either that, or the family are becoming a bit more compassionate as time goes by.

Davey Jones' Locker 1,325 Posted December 27, 2011 The old boy has just left hospital: Prince Philip leaves hospital after heart surgery Updated December 27, 2011 21:32:01 Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Philip has left hospital, four days after being rushed in for heart surgery and missing the Royal family's Christmas celebrations. The outspoken 90-year-old Prince smiled and waved as he was driven away in a dark car from Papworth hospital near Cambridge, eastern England. [snip] The health scare was the most serious yet for the longest serving Royal consort in British history, who has remained active in recent years despite his age. Prince Philip was airlifted from Sandringham to Papworth hospital on Friday after complaining of chest pains. He underwent an operation to unblock a coronary artery using a stent, a mesh sleeve fitted over a sausage-shaped balloon which is inserted into the artery and then inflated. The stent remains fixed in position inside the body when the balloon is removed and opens up the artery to remove the blockage. [snip] While at hospital Prince Philip told doctors he felt "fine" and did not want to "make a fuss", adding, "I just want to go home," according to reports...
