DevonDeathTrip 2,366 Posted January 31, 2013 An update on Ray Price... He's still on the road and singing, but this gig review does give away the fact that he opted not to undergo surgery following his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The fact that he is well enough to preform concerts might also mean he isn't receiving dehabilitating treatments such as chemotherapy either, in which case nature could well take it's course quite swiftly. ... On the other hand, he has taken delivery of a new tractor.

DevonDeathTrip 2,366 Posted May 22, 2013 Ray Price has been in hospital with dehydration, caused by his radiotherapy treatment. I still think he's a good DDP pick for this year.

maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted June 17, 2013 Price's optimism that he could do 150 gigs this year is starting to look a little misguided. There's online options: if he's that serious. I bet DL would agree to stream one.
Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted July 14, 2013 Been spending a pleasant Sunday in the garden reading through Ray Price's wife's Facebook page. Posts updating us on Ray's condition were nearly daily since he was diagnosed but have suddenly stopped in the past ten days. Looking at this picture from a month ago, I can't think why:
DevonDeathTrip 2,366 Posted September 16, 2013 The postings on Ray Price's Facebook page are starting to look a little ominous. It could be a real struggle for him to get to 2014.

Phantom 2,552 Posted October 14, 2013 Update on Ray Price "Good morning Face Book Family, just wanted to tell you all that I spoke to Janie this morning and she told me that if Ray continue to improve that the doctors said he will be able to leave ICU. Your prayers and get well cards has really helped him and Janie. We have gotten so many that I hired another person in the office to help open and process them. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the love you all have showed this family. Hope ever one has a good day."
Death Impends 8,043 Posted October 14, 2013 I'm predicting another sudden setback in a week or two, as often seems to be the case with people his age who seemingly recover from near death.
Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted October 17, 2013 The latest, from his sister-in-law: I spoke with Janie yesterday and has soon as she can, she will post a up date on Ray. Janie and Ray are hanging in there. He still has a infection Dr. Duke is working real hard to help Ray get through this. He is a great friend to Ray they go back a long way.Virgie
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted October 19, 2013 . If we lose Ray Price we might have to adopt Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens (93 in December). Fairly chipper up to date though radiation treatment on a pre-cancerous condition on his vocal chords this summer has slowed down his gigging of late. UK obit chances questionable, mind. Mainly hinge on the enduring popularity of his greatest hit: May the Bird of Paradise Fly up Your Nose.
Phantom 2,552 Posted October 19, 2013 latest update on Ray Price from his facebook page Hello Dear Friends,So many of you have requested an update on Ray. Please forgive me for being so long in getting back to you. Ray is still in the hospital and still in the ICU UNIT. Ray is stable now. He is alert and talking to me and all of his Doctors and is aware of everything happening around him. Thank The Good Lord, Rays SEPSIS is totally cleared up now. All culture results came back Negative! . So why are we still in the ICU? Rays Team Of Doctors have all told me that he is suffering from a Multiplicity Of Conditions brought on by the pancreatic cancer and the previous cancer treatments he underwent last year. The Sepsis infection has thrown him into Acute Kidney Failure. This has caused another buildup of fluid around his lungs. Dialysis was started but his blood pressure dropped too low and heart rate much too high from the rapid fluid removal. He was switched to CVHD. This way the fluid is removed slowly, gently and continually over a much longer period of time. That's the reason why we have to remain in ICU. When I tell you that I read your post and messages, I mean that I read them all! I hear your concern. I understand that you care for Ray and are worried about him. I share those concerns with you. Today marks Day #38 that Ray has been hospitalized. It is Day #10 in ICU. I have not left his bedside for a moment. Virgie packed me up a Care Package of personal items and mailed to me. Dr. Red Duke hand delivered it to me yesterday and it was most welcome! . You know Virgie. She did not forget to include my favorite nonperishable snacks! !. So I am restocked and ready to last for as long as it takes! Ray has had some bad days and some good days. The good ones far outweigh the bad. We are in good spirits and remain ever hopeful that this ordeal will soon come to a positive end. Thanks to each and everyone of you who have sent words of encouragement and your love to us both. Your messages have been a great source of pleasure and has had an enduring effect on Ray. Believe me, we will fight this with every ounce of strength remaining in us. Ray has shown what a real survivor he is. The last thing he says to me every night is "Honey, I Just Want To Go Home". With Your Good Thoughts And Prayers And The Good Lord Willing, He Will Get His Wish! Remember Always That We Care For You!. Janie Price.
Phantom 2,552 Posted October 25, 2013 Another update on Ray Price from his facebook page Hello Friends, Ray And I Want To Thank God For Hearing All Of The Prayers Sent Up To Him From All Of You And For The Incredibly Miraculous Recovery That Ray Has Made!!! Ray has been downgraded from Isolution ICU to Intermediate ICU! The hospital is the only place on Earth that the announcement of "YOU HAVE BEEN DOWNGRADED" is a good thing! If Ray continues to improve over this up coming weekend, he will be able to leave ICU and move into an Acute Care Facility early next week. ... We cannot go home yet because he has to have physician supervised dialysis. His kidneys were severely damaged by the Sepsis and we have to give them time to recover function. A Dear Friend told me today this is Day 44 of our hospital stay. Frankly I have lost track of the days and the time passing. All I know is that my Sweetheart is still alive and becoming more and more like his old self every day. I have not been more than 10 steps away from his bedside and I promise you I shall remain on constant vigil until we can walk out of this place together! ! If you can find it in your hearts to stay with us just a while longer, I truly believe our God will bring us home! Your Grateful Friend, Janie Price - I get an error when trying to set it in quotes, so I put it in bold and italics.
Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted on Ray's Fbook page, allegedly from his son Cliff: Unfortunately sad circumstances have brought me to this point. The last 3 days I have been unable to find out anything about my Father. With that being said I still believe I should be informed of my fathers health and whereabouts.I was told that my father was being moved to Tylar, and made plans to see him this past weekend. I have never been allowed to be alone with my dad since he has been sick without supervision. I was informed that he was still in Houston while actually he may have been in Tyler. I do not make alot of money and have limits on my ability to travel far. I have called numerous times daily , however my calls are ignored. All phone calls to my dad are monitored and screened. Since my Dad is in some hospital under an assumed name, it is very hard to locate him. I know that many of his friends would like to had the chance to talk to him on the phone or come visit. The change in communication secrecy and unknown location may indicated some serious problems. I know my Dad does not like computers or reading Facebook but if you see this Dad know I still love you and would like to visit. Please Call! It is a little weird how every post to Price's Fbook page is made by his sister-in-law, who seems mainly concerned with pushing a "tribute CD" for Ray...
