Gawd, why do you make things difficult? I'd see that more as a death announcement. YoungWillz 21,076 Posted May 13, 2018 Have until the early hours of Saturday morning before the next update. Plenty of time of Sir C to get that email off to the Mail. He'll need to if he's to get DDP points which are possibly more craved....

The original link to the Hartford Courant(newspaper) has a link to her obit, which they've parked on Legacy. So it's in the Hartford Courant. I got all excited and opened the actual obit when in fact I should have back-tracked. SC

Did....... did you just attempt some mental gymnastics to distinguish something called a 'death announcement' and something called an 'obiturary'? LMAO Well let's see who the DL mental wunderkinds are who buy that argument being made whilst dancing on the head of a pin. In the strange lands I come from an obituary is -- wait for it -- an announcement of one's death. Without looking up webster.com...I'm guessing that is pert near the exact definition. Nathaniel would be proud. And at the same time disappointed. SC
YoungWillz 21,076 Posted May 14, 2018 No real distinction in this pool between DN and Obit. Hartford, fine.... Awaiting Camm news, but I'm off out for the rest of the day.

This is correct. However, as I've said, for this pool (only?) there's no real distinction. However, I'll be cracking down next year on this type of pick as far as I can without pissing on Deathray's original rules....

Not sure the inference toward ‘my kind of pick’ or me as a DP’er is warranted. YoungWillz 21,076 Posted May 15, 2018 Not saying she would even be ruled out, Sir C. Tbh, there's a lot of leeway in this pool, a lot! Have you seen some of the picks out there? Anyway, it does seem that, shall we say the edgier pick people, just don't win in any event imo. There's enough people with just enough fame to get by every year it seems. Plus the edgier picks tend to die earlier, mainly because they are "nailed on certs" in December of the previous year. That's possibly the curse of the Hare's Pool, ha! December makes fools of us all, whether that's the previous December or the December of the competition.....
msc 18,487 Posted May 15, 2018 If the person was allowed in December, the points should stand providing a suitable obit arrives. I let in folk accidentally for the Cup that shouldnt have stood, it was my fault, not the contestants. IMO of course. Creep, he said "those types of picks" not "your type" - no one's picking on you. Right, everyone chilled? Great. Excuse curtness, been 5 hours in A&E with youngest. Everythings OK though.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 18, 2018 That's just a reboot of Wiki. It's a total bullshit source. "Bessie reached 113 years and 325 days, which made her the tenth-oldest person in the world known to the Gerontology Research Group which compiles a database of the oldest living people." Until THAT source shows it's primary source (they aren't one) it's GIGO. It lists two abstracters/verifiers by name for her record, but I think that pertains to her verified birth, not death. Assuming it's her death, arguendo, then I need to know how THEY know she is dead. I mean yeah it'll qualify here but that's a terrible precedent. Someone reboots fake news and we count it as news. OK. Noted. SC

YoungWillz 21,076 Posted May 18, 2018 So there we have it for now. A few movers and shakers though the top few maintain their positions, with gcreptile extending his lead for now. I'm sleepwalking my way into the second half of the year, cosseting my list of survivors, all 25 of them! Stay close, my pretties.... Now the next leaderboard will, as last year, show where you were last year if you entered so you can compare your hit numbers and scores with 12 months ago.
