Thatcher 2,822 Posted yesterday at 13:54 400 jobs axed at Cardiff University, 200 jobs axed at Durham University, Tesco cutting 400 jobs, Sainsbury’s slashing 3000 jobs, Morrisons getting rid of 200 staff. If you are a socialist or a massive twat, you will be expecting Tesco, and others, to just 'absorb' those costs. The cunts that were in before were quite something, however, the ones we have in now are fucking mind blowing.

For example, I'm willing to bet Morrisons is more down to being asset stripped by its private equity owners, they've certainly been going downhill since that takeover a few years back. WHSmith is a shithole business that hasn't adapted to modern times, survives only through its captive train/airport market, so besides the workforce, I doubt there will be many mourning that closing down. The budget will, like covid, be used as an excuse to cover up actions that were already in the pipeline, and/or cover up the business' own shortcomings. I also wouldn't mind betting we still have a load of zombie companies leftover from the years of cheap money when the Bank of England had ultra-low interest rates and printed money like it was going out of fashion. Maybe increasing NI employer contributions is the wrong way to bring these businesses down, but there are companies overdue going bust. If however the demand for their products is there, new opportunities will take over.
