He dealt with health problems and alcohol use.

I finished Skyrim last week and survived. I have now moved on to Starfield.

Jennell Jaquays reported dead on her GoFundMe aged 67. Had a very lengthy career in gaming, from being behind the first conversion of Donkey Kong for a home console (Colecovision) in 1982, through to being a level designer on various Dooms and Quakes over the years and an art director for Age of Empires. Also did some stuff involving Dungeons and Dragons but I have no idea what any of that is.

A self-Dunning, is this a first?

Could be. Don’t recall it happening before.

Exceot that the X obit from his brother never mentions anything about being a composer.  How would you have ever known that unless you too are a total nerd?

The Follin Brothers are lauded for their early music for games - sometimes it is the best bit.

Oh, and Google.

Yeah, their best work was on Silver Surfer imo.

Currently live: the first gameplay reveal for Civilization VII. Sid Meier is now 70 years old, so quite old for a game developer. His face is coloured quite sickly.

Andrew Greenberg, co-creator of the Wizardry RPG series has died at 67:

It's one of the 2-3 core RPG "franchises" in gaming history. The Wizardry series also had a strange afterlife in Japan where it has tons of off-shoot games.

And he's immortalized as the evil wizard Wernda in the first game.

Fond and frustrating memories of playing this series.  I had pages and pages of square ruled paper for mapping out the dungeons.  A true dungeon crawler where you had to roll your character.  Spells that gave you no clue what effect they'd do.  Enemies with attacks that had no effect or caused no damage, but would call for help until you buckled under sheer numbers (Creeping Coins).  Chests with traps that even the best Thief or Ninja would be killed due to triggering a trap on attempted inspection or misidentification.  Teleporting into solid rock due to misreading coordinates.  Endless grinding for levels against Murphy's Ghost.  Random treasures and trophies needed to pass checkpoints.  The horror of realization your party was too weak to make it back to town and died one by one on the attempted return journey - and you could visit their grave on the next trek down to the unknown.

Finally made it to Wernda?  The chances an instant death spell or attack would work and take out at least one of the six of your party was assured.

Classic games on the PC.

"Skyrim Grandma" Shirley Curry wants Bethesda to release the sequel before she dies. She's 86 years old now, good luck!

https://metro.co.uk/2022/06/17/skyrim-grandma-wants-to-play-elder-scrolls-6-before-she-dies-16844533/

And yes, she has a Wiki page:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Curry

She suffered a stroke earlier this year, deleting many gaming memories from her harddrive.

According to her latest video, Shirley Curry is retiring from making gaming videos. She'll have eye surgery (actually today):

She also feels too tired to do more, tired of it, tired in general, maybe both. She might still do normal videos though.
