DL Prediction Game

Recommended Posts

So I decided to start a little competition to predict the deathlist 2016...

This is how you play:

You send me (as a personal message) a list of 50 names who you think will be on the Deathlist 2016 in the order you think they'll be on there...

* You get 5 points if you guess someone who is on the list correct...

* you get another 5 points if you also guessed his/her position on the list correct...

* Entries need to be send to me before 12:00 A.M. GMT on the 31th of December 2015...

* I will reveal the winners in the first week of January... The person with the most points wins...

(apologies for the bad grammar... typed it on my phone in an airport)

edit: updated the rules below to make the stakes higher....

-----

25 points for exact position

15 points if you are at only 1,2,3,4 or 5 positions removed

10 points if you are at only 6,7,8,9 or 10 positions removed

only 5 points if the person is on the list but farther from the original position...

Giving both scoring option 5 points each is pointless. Just may as well give a single point in both cases and the resulting order would be the very same outcome.

Why not give 100 points for guessing the names on the list then to vary the outcome, would be to offer a sliding scale of difference such as 300 bonus points for getting the exact position correct?

200 points for one position away.

150 points for 3 positions away, then:

120 points for 4 positions away.

100 points for 5 positions away.

90 points for 6 away.

80 for 7 away.

70 for 8 away.

60 for 9 away.

50 for 10 away.

40 for 11 away.

31 for 12 away.

25 for 13 away.

21 for 14 away.

18 for 15 away.

Then between 16 points and 1 point for between 16 to 31 positions away.

To vary the outcome would be to offer a sliding scale of difference such as 25 points for exact position.

20 points for one position away.

15 points for 3 positions away, then

12 for 4 positions away,

10 for 5 positions away.

Then 9 points for 6 away.

8 for 7 away.

7 for 8 away.

6 for 9 away.

5 for 10 away

4 for 11 away.

3 for 12 away.

2 for 13 away.

1 for 14 or 15 away.

It's partially because I will not have a lot of time too count the results...

but here is an amendment too the rule too make the stakes higher...

25 points for exact position

15 points if you are at only 1,2,3,4 or 5 positions removed

10 points if you are at only 6,7,8,9 or 10 positions removed

only 5 points if the person is on the list but farther from the original position...

Also if you already sent me your entry you can send me an updated version...

I predict that they fill the obligatory 'fat old Negro musician' slot by booting inexplicable Chuck Berry (BB King opens a spot too but he's not pop music, and they really missed on Percy Sledge as did I), and go to their pick two years ago and re-install a worthy Fats Domino.

I'm not a country music fan, so really not a surprise that I had not heard of Joey Feek until I heard of her (very unfortunate) imminent demise here. Reading about her I didn't get the feeling that she was a deathlist.net type, though eminently worthy for DDP and Deathrace etc.
