Wish I'd had a tenner on that - totally predictable for once.

Last time on Last Word: Brendan Duddy, Nina Lowry, Roger Ailes, Osmund Reynolds, Roger Moore

And since Gregg Allman has just died, I don't think Chris Cornell will be making an appearance on Last Word...

This week on Last Word: John Noakes, Manuel Noriega, Pat Stewart, Wing Commander Rex Sanders, and Gregg Allman. Totally predictable week.

Also my 3000th post. I really need to get a life...

Adam West definitely for next week. Besides that, I don't know. Errol Christie maybe, or some more obscure celebrity that no one besides the BBC has heard of before. Who knows...

Maybe Chris Cornell from the archives...

The question we're all wondering is this: who will make an appearance on this weeks episode of Last Word?

Helmut Kohl, Anita Pallenberg, Professor Brian Bellhouse, Naseem Khan, and Brian Cant.

Not to say I've been snowed under, but this is the first I've twigged it's bloody Friday!

Ah at least Dr Who's on tomorrow.

So, how much of a biggie would you have to be to dislodge Barry Norman as prime pick for next week?

One UK hit at number 90?

Guess it makes him slightly more famous than Ken Hirst....

I guess he (and 2 Live Crew) were more popular overseas, where they are from (Florida). I tend to hear 2 Live Crew songs play a lot here at clubs.

They could always choose that one lobster catcher from Massachusetts if they ever need a celebrity...

Ground-breakingly important as the first major Asian-American rapper, plus 2 Live Crew's role in censorship wars in the US.

And he discovered Flo Rida!

I'd say

First Asian-Am Rapper? So what?

Censorship Wars in US? Unimportant to UK.

Discovered Flo Rida? The guy who signed Sly And The Family Stone died recently and got no coverage.

But hey, it's The Last Word...if they cover him, they cover him. Prodigy got a Times Obit with little to nothing success wise in the UK.

Plus, by your logic YW, priority should be given when a member of Da Muttz dies (one single that reached #11, the majestic "Wassuup!" in 2001)  over a member of the Velvet Underground (only UK top 75 hit stalled at #71).

My point is not to denigrate your well made points. ;)

My point is that the British media seems to have a high bar when reporting UK deaths but a pretty low one when it comes to American personalities, especially particular forms of music. Hey, I guess it is easy from a distance to appreciate the talents of someone, especially in the US where the papers praise and laud their own to the high heavens. Much more difficult to appreciate the talents of someone in the UK the press build up and then try to dig the dirt  on for the rest of their career.

Plus, the relative merits or otherwise of UK one-hit wonders is neither here nor there. Who is to say Joe Dolce obits but members of Fiction Factory don't?

The latter won't, by the way, and they are British.

That would be a waste of a line like 'Feels Like Heaven', wouldn't it.

Great song, btw.
