Clarissa Eden

Her book is alright, though it ends when Sir Anthony dies, as if that was the end of her notable life.

She might feel it was, but a postscript of "I'm now 90-something, have lots of cats and read a lot" would have been nice...

There was a documentary a few years back in which Cherie Blair interviewed the living PM's wives, including Clarissa and (Pan Breed favourite) Mary Wilson. Alas, I missed it at the time, and have never found it sneaking online.

I recall that and whilst Cherie Blair and Mary Wilson seemed to get on like a house on fire I got the distinct impression from her body language that Clarissa Eden was not a fan of Mrs Blair and didn't really approve of her as a person!

Could just be my bad mind!

Tony Booth used to campaign for Labour so its possible Mary Wilson has known Cherie since she were a small wean.

Oh very possibly yes but in terms of Clarissa Eden and Cherie Blair I didn't sense that her dislike was for party political reasons I just sense that she found Mrs Blair baffling, unimpressive and overgrand.

I know Cherie Blair wrote a book about the wives of UK Prime Ministers and I think the BBC documentary was based on this book.

Here's a picture of Clarissa Eden (far right) taken in the early 2000s with Norma Major, Mary Wilson and Cherie Blair

If you need to explain who the person is in the subtitle, they don't deserve a fucking thread.

If it was the wife of a dead us president you wouldn't complain.Fact is she has outlived almost all her generation so not many people remember her.Still significant.

^ Aye, Sir Anthony died 40 years ago!

She's the British equivalent of a Lady Bird Johnson. The thread is fine.

I do think if Eden or (Pan Breed favourite) Mary Wilson were going to appear on the Deathlist, however, they would have done so by now.

Yeah but Luise Rainer had to wait until she was 104 until she got on the list.

And that was a surprise call up, too!

Naturally I'd never complain if Mary got a call up (or Crowdsourced points)...

I cannot even get a decent anagram out of her name. That is how dull she is.

I wonder if the committee will plump for the rather overlooked but worthy and guaranteed qualifying  obituary candidate of Clarissa Eden next year?

I hope she appears on the list regardless of her low profile.
