I can't find an obit yet.

Sounds like a death notice to me - normally there's a link but somebody just decided to type in these details to Wiki.

Yes, it is a notice. The user that added it is a longtime editor whose edits are always constructive.

I will add that sometimes The Times do feature their full write up obituaries in the print version that, for whatever reason, are not available online until some time later.

Would he tie the DDP record if we find it?

Yes, but I am looking at their eversion through the paywall and can't find it. So this may be a shit out of luck scenario.

Pretty much the worst type of name to die this late in the year, obitwise. He surely will have a full-fledged obit within a few weeks, but there's only two days and eight hours for a relevant obit to crop up.

Behind paywall, but Arnold Wolfendale has died.

Telegraph obit.

Great quick initial spot there @drol

1927 is considered the last year of the Greatest Generation, as it's the last birth year that men and women could fight in World War II.

A rather significant year to look into for celebrity deaths.

I have no idea why you brought this thread back, but it's worth updating:

Well, 8 is the number in an Olympic athletics/swimming final.

So, I'll take it!

You have a very strong pick. But then so do I. :) I can see us both being in the final 3.

Given my luck at these sorts of games, Sandy Gall deserves a medal for surviving that level of jinx for six years now!

Last public appearance was in June 2022(?) Very quiet for a man who is often so busy and committed... I’ll give him 6 months.
