Will Boris Johnson last the day in post? Probably as he’s awaiting Mays demise to pounce. As for Gove? A weasel. A total cockwomble. Aye, it has the makings of a great movie ten years down the line - you can't help thinking at least one of the blatant contenders will bottle it (like Boris did last time), at least one more - maybe Gove again - will hurl himself forward in a state of total delusion over whether he's capable and wanted and maybe some option acceptable to the party will steal in (in the manner of Major or Cameron) all of which will detract mightily from actually running the country. May looks exhausted and much like someone who would suffer massive shock if she had a good day at work. In danger of severe injury caused by shuffling forward whilst extremely tired and tripping over her own eye bags.
philheybrookbay 439 Posted July 9, 2018 It’s always the bloody same argument with the Tories. This infighting has been going on for decades over Europe. What’s more galling is that it’s same old names trotted out when it goes wrong. Gove and Rees Mogg are just horrendous individuals who shouldn’t be near the top of power imho. maryportfuncity 10,639 Posted July 9, 2018 Gove and Rees Mogg ARE near the top of power, though RM in particular enjoying considerable support in his party. It's worth considering if by winning the 2015 election the Conservaties created the seeds of their own short-term destruction. The best news they have - ironically - is Jezza's presence as leader of HM oppostion and the aversion much of Britain has to seeing him gifted any real power.
YoungWillz 21,024 Posted July 9, 2018 After Davis' and Johnson's resignations, Tezza is on her way to address the Commons at 15:30, apparently. Should be fun, about to tune into BBC Parliament shortly....mwahahahahahha.

Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted July 9, 2018 This was all bound to happen. The vote was to leave and Cameron, the remainer, decided that he had no choice but to go. What did they do then? They decided that it would be fucking brilliant if they had another remainer take charge and sail us through the sea if shit we were bound to get thrown at us. It was bound to work, wasn't it.

philheybrookbay 439 Posted July 9, 2018 48 Tories MPs need to write to the chair of the 1922 committee stating unhappiness with her leadership. Sounds like they’ve reached that number and with some ease.

philheybrookbay 439 Posted July 9, 2018 The telling point will be the numbers. If it’s around 65-70, she’s got no chance (not that I expect she will have much of one)

Could be an interesting few weeks ahead. Few more resignations tomorrow and then it's a waiting game for the ERG, they can either go for the jugular this week and stick a internal party VoNC in that they have no idea whether they'll win or they can wait for the next key vote on Brexit and conspire with opposition to get it voted out and undermine her confidence followed by a Vote of no Confidence in parliament. The former would give more time for them to negotiate a harder Brexit, the latter seems more likely to succeed.
Sean 6,310 Posted July 9, 2018 Fact is by fucking up the snap election she triggered she has locked herself in Number 10.If there was a majority of tories in the commons a leadership challenge would have been triggered by now but the fact there is no majority means that a stalking horse candidate is unlikely to beat her and even if they did whether they were leave or remain hard or soft Brexit the other wing of the party would stop legislation getting anywhere hence why o one wants the job.
Sean 6,310 Posted July 9, 2018 If say David Davis challenged and ousted her he wouldn't get anything passed and neither would say Dominic Greive if he got the remainers to oust May.
