Ulitzer95 12,594 Posted February 1, 2021 As OoO writes above, also the oldest Spurs player. Handy that both the QPR and Ipswich Town articles on his passing identify him as their oldest player too. Was that already known @Octopus of Odstock or does it in turn remove any of names from the possibly living list?

Could I check your source please + do you know the place he died? Well, I noticed an edit in his Wikipedia page made by a user that has made no other edits. The information seems very accurate in the sense of a date and a reason of death. That said, I can't see anything on GRO or Scotland's People, or Find a Will on gov.uk I admit I would like something more tangible but I do find that these edits are normally pretty accurate. I'm happy to change it if someone thinks the user may know otherwise.

Ulitzer95 12,594 Posted February 8, 2021 The death of Collins means that there are now only two GB footballers left on the List of notable surviving veterans of World War II page, Arthur Smith (105) and Josser Watling (95). Surely there must be a few more than that? @Octopus of Odstock, @michaelf, is this something either of you have information on?
michaelf 24 Posted February 8, 2021 Thanks for that.there are 3 players born in 1921 who may be alive .they were recently. Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted February 8, 2021 Reg Beresford, Alf Patrick and Jack Vitty are definitely alive. It depends on whether they served or not. I guess anyone born pre 1927 could've been involved in the war effort but its a question of whether they are a veteran or not.
michaelf 24 Posted February 8, 2021 There could be over 50 alive aged 93 plus
Ulitzer95 12,594 Posted February 8, 2021 Thanks both. I’m always quite curious about WWII veteran numbers. I’ll do a bit of research on Ancestry. There should be service draft cards on there.

I say this because he lives in Truro and is the 2020 Electoral roll He had 2 sons in Yorkshire The sons married in Falmouth where one of his son's played for Falmouth town his wife died in 1985.he remarried in 1987 after moving to Truro and had 2 children .one born in 1991 that marriage broke up and he married Jan Davies in 1997 and lives with her and her children in addition Reginald Aspinall born 3rd June 1921 is alive and lives with his wife in Walsall William D reid's wife died in Canada in 1980 but I cannot find his death Can you provide a place and date of death for Stan Carr as I cannot find it Michael Featherstone Are you certain on this?
