Summer in Transylvania 2,134 Posted October 16, 2023 Sir Sam Neill, regarded as one of the most versatile actors of his generation, was diagnosed with Stage III Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma last year. More recently, his chemo has stopped working and he is on a drug that is also seemingly likely to run out of puff sooner rather than later. A rather real possibility for the DL 2024 at this rate. 11 1

The Old Crem 3,576 Posted October 16, 2023 I wonder if he will make the main list. Feels like someone they might go for in some years but not others.

Major actor ailing with cancer all over the news. Would be wild if he never did. It doesn't seem like he's in any imminent danger (he says the drugs will stop working "at some point", but doesn't give any indication that'll be in the near future, and obviously he's still active and looks quite good), so he may not be an incredibly appealing 2024 pick, but after that, sure, especially if he has any visible decline. Also of course there's the chance of an Andy Taylor case also where doctors find something that makes his prognosis less grim.

dimreaper 669 Posted November 21, 2023 The median survival rate for his type of cancer is 22 months. He'll hit the milestone in the coming January. I think his expiration date is far closer than we realize. https://ashpublications.org/blood/article/134/Supplement_1/2194/427985/Angioimmunoblastic-T-Cell-Lymphoma-Patient

gcreptile 10,939 Posted August 20 Still remission, still receiving chemo: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-20/sam-neill-cancer-chemotherapy-treatment-the-assembly/104156420 One of the kinds of cancer where the chemo makes him look terrible - but he's ...probably... okay.
