Fair enough, though you could always give them a skim-listen if you had the time/stomach for it?

I've considered that previously, but, it just doesn't feel right, I mean if a track were that good, I'd surely get to hear it anyway? I just don't know.

It doesn't help that I have a massive distaste for most things that are 'rap'. I appreciate the skill I just don't like it.

I have plenty of younger friends via whatever foolishness on their part or mine, and rap is just the thing lately and despite my best efforts, musically it just leaves me cold.

I might try a skim. We'll see.

You might be okay this time...only about a quarter of these ones have any rap in them.

I was a prog rock fan when young, couldn't get enough of Floyd, Early Genesis,  Hawkwind even. And the 80's seemed then, and still today, a souce of wonderful innovation there was all sorts. Then in the 90's by god there were some tunes in the world of 'trance' for want of a better term. Electronica, Punk, New Wave, you name it, there was just such variety. Yes there was crud but you could avoid it. Now? Aside from one or two possible tracks at best it's banal or.......rapped up tracks of old.

I'm not saying I yearn for the return, or the grave, but (a few odd tracks aside) I find it hard.

Just an example. After Dark Side, Animals. etc etc, Seconds Out, The damned, Ian Dury, whatever. We got this.

It's not perfect, but fuck me, nothing today seems to come close. I appreciate everyone has said this since swing in the 40's, Elvis in the 50's and The Beatles in the 60's......

Am I just old? And wrong? I don't know. But I cannot get into Ed  Sheeran and Taylor Swift in the same way. And what else is there?

Sorry :tomatododge:

Edit: Anyway, enough of my shite, I'm digressing unfairly. Back to it :)

I get your sentiment. The lists going into the 00s are mostly payola tracks. Or from previous decades.
I read an article recently how the Billboard charts refuse to count music selling in independent record stores and only consider retailers of the Walmart vein. It's skewing charts heavily to favor music that Walmart would approve of, politically and socially. It would not be possible for Nirvana or NWA to break in the charts, like when the technology Soundscan debuted.

Just moving some stuff around for now, too early to pick favourites, I'll need to hear a few I'm not sure on and listen to a few to remind myself if they're bangers or not. Don't hate that Westlife song so I'll give them a break for now, and Peter Kay always makes me smile. McFly, not so much.

70s #3s next? When's the 2010s #1s happening? I mean, I'll know a lot more of the 70s #3s than the 2010s #1s but just curious. I know it was mooted.

The top song just happens to be your least favourite, again, and one of the bottom songs just happens to be your favourite, again? No. I don't buy that for a second. It's beyond coincidence now. Play the game properly or get minus sixed the fuck out of here.

TQR, but that's right, my tastes are very different from what's in the game, of those that passed in the last one I only liked 2, and many that were eliminated I really liked, I'm voting according to my taste, not according to the taste of how is the list

It's very, very suspicious that every single round it's been the case that the top gets knocked and the bottom gets boosted. I've had complaints. I'll be keeping a close eye on your scores, particularly in the build up to the grand final - your first vote there will determine whether or not you partake in the rest of it.

I think we have to normalize the difference of opinion, it definitely seems that our tastes, most of the time are opposite, the game is democratic, there is room for all opinions, and most of the time my favorites are the ones that are eliminated, as per I already said I have no interest in harming music that I like and benefiting music that I don't like, what will I gain from this?
