Why?

Surely it's not hard to understand why mango would prefer an old, white, decrepit male. She isn't ticking any of the boxes for him.

As a Frenchman.....I don't understand how the American can be satisfied by the functioning of their presidential election. There are many thing to reconsider in the US elections....if the result of the election depends on the States...why the votes of those who voted for the loosing party in the state can not be represented in the electoral college.....For example, the voice of a Democrat voter in Texas is not counted at the end, because Texas is a Red State and the same for a Republican in California, his voice is not counted at the end because it's a Blue State. To sum up, the result of the presidential election of this country home of more than 300 millions people and 50 states depends on the decisions of thousands of voters in just 7 swing states....what a nonsense. The "Winner takes all" system is a completly nonsense.

And don’t you think we have the same "problem" in France for the legislative elections ?

The party who has the majority of votes nationwide doesn’t necessarily win the elections. It’s the party who has the most SEATS, depending on the results of each constituencies.

And  Paris, Lyon and Marseille areas send the most députés in the Parliament, same as California, New York etc in the US.

In the last legislatives elections in July, the Rassemblement National had the most votes, yet came only third in terms of seats and thus don’t govern.

Same thing that the US presidential election in 2016, when Hilary had the most votes but Trump became President.

Trump goes completely bonkers in Pennsylvania.

Praises Xi of China for ruling his country with an iron fist. (There's a hint for Trump Mk II).

Wants paper ballots and voter ID everywhere. Talks about the machines used for voting and says how corrupt they are - all he had to do was ask Elon Musk to look at them and implies Musk condemned them - just by looking at them.

Calls the press bloodsuckers. Trump claims to be telling the truth and for that "they" want to lock him up. Says he went to school in Pennsylvania - now there's an insult to the educated of Penn State. Still claims to be a very smart person. Because smart people always have to say they are smart.

Nobody's shot at him yet though. God's will I expect. And why is he rallying on a Sunday? All those Christians skipping church to listen to this guy?

Meantime Harris was on Saturday Night Live's cold open.

Americans must decide this though - their choice. As for the world, we await their decision.

First past the post voting makes the problem even worse though. I voted for Labour in the last general election and I'm as happy to see the Tories gone as anyone, but let's not pretend winning 63% of seats on 34% of the vote is a great look for the UK (or US) electoral system as a whole.

I'm still not totally unconvinced he's not actually Crem's sockpuppet account for when he has an opinion that's 'too hot' for his main account.

Jimmy reference aside, I'd actually much prefer a competent, young, non-white male. Someone like Rishi Sunak would be fine by me. As for a female, Margaret Thatcher was terrific. Kamala Harris on the other hand, is an abject embarrassment, not unlike Liz Truss.

Well, I'm just expressing a commonly held opinion on this joke of a woman. She isn't popular at all. Like I said, America's Truss.

Haha, I probably agree with Crem more than most people here, but no, I've got my own mind.

If the world today was led by more women…the world would be better. I think so. Because most of women have more decency, are less corrupt, than some men like Trump. I’m depressed that most of countries today are still led by men since their foundation. I would like more women as president or prime minister in this world.

Wow, I think it’s a 6th grader level reflection.

The Americans didn’t vote for Hilary and Trump in 2016 because they were a woman and a man, but because they were democrats and republicans. And Hilary did win the popular vote.

Saying that women have more qualities than men is as sexist and absurd than saying the opposite.

So according to you, Margaret Thatcher, Edith Cresson and Elizabeth Borne were very good PM ?

And I suppose that you voted Marine Le Pen in the presidential election ?

I wouldn't say this is 100% true. Sexism certainly exists on some level in voting patterns. Hopefully we are at the point where it is a marginal one, but I'm not sure.

If I would like a have a woman as president...that's does not necessarily mean I would like Marine Le Pen as president.

I just hope that the criteria women cannot be president isn't the reason why some voters are turning to Trump

Of course it exists. But in that particular case, it doesn’t play any role I think.

If Trump was a woman, I think I would have the same amount of voters. It’s his ideology not his gender who make people endorse or hate him.

You dream on...I'm sure the gender plays a large role in the convictions of some voters....and in 2024...I think it's really sad !

I think the reason why some voters prefer Trump over Harris is not because Harris is a woman, but because they think, whether they’re right or wrong, that’s she is too much progressive.
