(Wiki) Kathy Bates announces her retirement from acting. She frames it as wanting to enjoy her hard earned wealth/time left, but I'd keep an eye on her. The full interview/announcement is NYT paywalled.

Technically she's doing Matlock first. Which is a really terrible way to go out.

There seems to be confusion over Ann Blyth’s age; IMDB says 1927, Wiki says 1928.

Not really. IMDb usually has the correct year listed (example). I tend to think there is some lone nut who believes she was born in 1927 and frequently changes it back whenever he's reverted, although who knows why they keep accepting it.

This makes sense, because public records say 1928.

Chad McQueen, Dutch in Karate Kid (and Steve’s son), reportedly dead at 63 (no news sites have reported it yet but is all over Instagram and X)

Also a racing driver, who competed in single-seaters for a while, in a more competitive series than his old man did.

Does he really not have a Wiki page? Plenty of people with smaller resumes do...

For WW fans, he wrote the story for seasons 4's election night episode and the one with the spy plane, and was a staff writer on a few of the other episodes of season 4.

So who's going to get the iconic spot at the end of TCM Remembers this year?

Maggie Smith, Donald Sutherland or James Earl Jones?

So far, I'd guess Maggie Smith.

JEJ had the most iconic role out of all of them (Vader) but arguably Smith had more notable roles overall.

What’s confusing you @Gisooo ?

Spot on. I think more people would be familiar with Maggie Smith because of the range of films and programmes she appeared in.

Not everyone followed Star Wars.  (I saw the first one but never felt the desire to watch any more.)  And JEJ wasn't recognisable in it.

TCM is owned by Warner, so... I'll go with Jones as he's American and I can see good old Davie Z meddling to make sure JEJ is has the final spot (unless there's a shock death or something).

Something something American exceptionalism. /s

And if you include nominees, Ann Blyth was nominated all the way back in 1945 and is still with us!
