DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted May 5, 2013 American folk fiddler Sue Draheim has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She has appeared on albums by British folk luminaries Fairport Convention, Pentangle, The Albion Band, John Martyn and Richard Thompson. Dead. I'll be interested to see if Sue Draheim gets a UK obit, because she'd have been number one in my DDP entry next year. I think I may have seen Draheim preform with Fairport at a Cropredy Festival...although all of my festival memories are a bit of a blur.

harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,688 Posted August 22, 2013 No links I'm afraid, but I heard this evening that the slightly obscure folk singer Louisa Jo Killen was diagnosed with lung cancer last August, although I have no information about how she is doing now. She is probably better known (but still not well known enough for a Wikipedia page) as Louis Killen, however she underwent gender re-assignment surgery at the age of 75... I'm sure she'll get a broadsheet obit when she goes. After a respectful pause, she/he did. A member of the Clancy Brothers for a while, too. She's sporting a fine beard in that photo. Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted November 15, 2013 Don't know if you'd call him a folk singer (probably not) but Roy Harper has been knockin' on Heaven's door for a while, with various ailments physical and mental, and balladeer/singer-songwiter Dan Fogelberg has been battling prostate cancer, but I don't really think that they, or anyone else mentioned here would really qualify on the famous front. Turns out it wasn't heaven's door he was knocking on, but rather than front door of the local comprehensive.

Turns out it wasn't heaven's door he was knocking on, but rather than front door of the local comprehensive. Which one's pink? The net closes ever closer on Jimmy Page, then. I'm sure there's a line that says something like: "Baby let me calm your fears, let me hold your thirteen years" in Harper's song "Commune." Oddly, the online versions of the lyrics vary a lot for this track. One version totally changes the following, which I'm sure is what he really sings: And I watched her makin' her first daisy chain as her nipples hung hard in suggestion And naked, gnat-bitten we drifted fain in the hazy deserved sensation Truly, they don't write 'em like that any more. harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,688 Posted November 23, 2013 The net closes ever closer on Jimmy Page, then. Just about every old rocker must be a possible suspect. How long till Led Zep's 'red snapper' groupie comes forward? "M'lud, you must remember this was the culture of 1971, when inserting Lutjanus campechanus into a young lady's private parts was considered the societal norm". I guess the rock star paedo hunt has now begun in earnest. Bill Wyman, anyone? And I suspect Jerry Lee was banging his 13-yr-old wife Myra when he toured here in 1958 too, Officer Yewtree. I should be ok, as we never got any groupies. Of any age. Unless you count Welshman or Cowboy Ronnie.
