maryportfuncity 10,655 Posted January 7, 2016 Lee Kerslake of Uriah Heep has bone and prostate cancer, but they managed to find some treatment that works for now: http://ultimateclassicrock.com/lee-kerslake-cancer/ The article doesn't mention his battles with depression and addiction but Kerslake is a toughie, something I learned to my cost a few years back after squandering valuable dead pool squad places on him. YoungWillz 21,062 Posted January 19, 2016 No worries, Phantom, I saw a report from Hollywood Life indicating he had died this year too, maybe that's where it's coming from. Maybe in passing I should note I have Bowie's bassist Herbie Flowers in the DDP. Maybe he will be Number Three....

Picked him for getting on more than anything, and having a hit in 1980. Seemed in fine fettle when talking about Bowie when he died. I doubt he's going anywhere, but then that's why I didn't pick Bowie for my 1980 theme team!

maryportfuncity 10,655 Posted February 12, 2016 Just seen Ginger Baker and his Airforce 3 have been added to the bill for this year's Ramblin' Man so that's him and Dave Brock with Hawkwind on my must see list when I roll up, then. Assuming both of these aged ravers are still breathing in July I'll give yers a form-studying report.

Unless people are now surviving until they're 150, I would hold back referring to Ginger Baker or Dave Brock as "middle-aged" A guy I used to work with, his dad worked as a roadie for Hawkwind back in the late 70s. Was fortunate to have lunch round Brock's house once. It was a bit of a mess, but one of those messes that made you feel like the house was lived in, rather than looking like a furniture store showroom.

Co-incidentally currently listening to their very agreeable new album The Machine Stops I go through phases with Hawkwind, I'll buy a few of their albums at a time, then skip 10-15 years before revisiting their stuff. Have their album Electric Teepee in the car at the moment, was listening to it on the drive in to work this morning.
