Last week German producer, songwriter, singer Drafi Deutscher died.........

.... looking at the long list of aliases.

Jack Goldbird, Kurt Gebegern, Renate Valpus, Hektor von Udesom, Dave Bolan, Baby Champ, Big Wigwam, Mr. Walkie Talkie, Masquerade, Lars Funkel, Erus Tsebethmi, Ironic Remark, Pina Colada, Blue Lagune etc.

Renate? Did he have a drag act, too?

Apparently Deutscher smoked 4 packs of ciggies a day. Allowing time off for sleep and eating, that's about one every 5 minutes.

I'm reliably informed that he took a hell of a bucket as well.

Robert Donner, character actor died on June 8th aged 75.

He was probably best known as Exidor in "Mork and Mindy"

No proper obituaries thus far.

Bugger. I was going to have him in my DDP for next year

Moe Drabowski, former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles (amongst other baseball teams). Set, and still holds, a World (whatever made them define it 'world', I'll never know) Series records for strikeouts made in a relief appearance with 11 in 1966.

Yeah, I only posted it because I'm from Baltimore.

Flippin' heck. I only saw him on TV the other week (some Schlager Favourites top 10 thing on NDR). For a certain amount of time he was very popular in Germany, and vaguely known over here too.

Don't think he's been mentioned yet György Ligeti,

he's mentioned on Near Misses, but I think he is more appropriate here. Either way, I don't think it matters since 95% of us are going to forget him next week unless we watch 2001: A Space Odyssey once a month or so.

Once in a lifetime was far more than enough for me. <_<

But carpet slippers, I've had this fight in the Kirk Douglas thread.

Freddie's Dead....that's what I said...

Hey, hey

Love, love

Yeah, yeah

Ah, ha

Freddies dead

That's what I said

Let the rap a plan

Said he'd see him home

But his hope was a rope

And he should've known

It's hard to understand

That there's love in this man

I'm sure all would agree

That his misery was his

Woman and things

Now Freddie's dead

That's what I said

Everybody's misused him

Ripped him up and abused him

Another junkie plan

Pushin' dope for the man

A terrible blow

But that's how it goes

A freddies on the corner now

If you wanna be a junkie, wow

Remember freddies dead

We're all built up with progress

But sometimes I must confess

We can deal with rockets and dreams

But reality, what does it mean

Ain't nothing said

'Cause freddies dead

Hey, hey

Love, love

Hey, hey

Yeah, yeah

Ha, ha

Love, love

Yeah, yeah

Ha, ha

Yeah, yeah

Freddies dead

All I want is some peace of mind

With a little love I'm trying to find

This could be such a beautiful world

With a wonderful girl

Why I need a woman child

Don't wanna be like freddie now

'Cause freddies dead

Hey, hey

Yeah, yeah

If you don't try

You're gonna die

Why can't we brothers

Protect one another

No one's serious

And it makes me furious

Don't be misled

Just think of Fred

Everybody's misused him

Ripped him up and abused him

Another junkie plan

Pushin' dope for the man

A freddies on the corner now

If you wanna be a junkie, why

Remember freddies dead

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

Freddies dead

Hey, hey

Ha, ha

Love, love

Ha, ha...

Monsignor Denis Faul, Irish civil rights campaigner and chaplin at The Maze prison during the hunger strikes of 1981.

Died aged 74 from cancer.

Terpitude Friendly....Since the link-a-dinky seems to be out of commishy perhaps this would be a time to set forth before ye the need of always always (at the risk of repeatalating myself....oh what the heck....) ALWAYS giving as many details (ludicrous and others) as to what happened. In other words would you please tell us all the type of cancer? This will help to give some additional visuals within the mind (unless of course it was brain cancer).

That's all for now....and now back to my Dave Van Ronk evening of music......
