Cerberus 302 Posted September 22, 2005 Jimmy Young was 84 on Wednesday in fact. I'm intrigued by Themaninblack's avatar. Anyone got any idea exactly what the fat person is doing?
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted September 22, 2005 Overheard in pub t'other night that Jeremy Thorpe former Liberal Party leader who lives locally, doesn't have long left. Riddled by Parkinsons Disease and very depressed, is now totally housebound. Should be a good bet for 2006 methinks.
Cerberus 302 Posted September 22, 2005 Yes I've suggested Thorpe before, he should definitely go on next year IMO. William "Sch ... you know who" Franklyn, 79 today. Probably not really famous enough though.
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted September 22, 2005 Mr Thorpe was not one to shun the company of young men until very recently.... I should perhaps add "allegedly" here.
Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted September 22, 2005 Mr Thorpe was not one to shun the company of young men until very recently....I should perhaps add "allegedly" here. Maybe you could wangle an invite to Thorpe Towers to check out his health first-hand.

May I be permitted to ask how long ago you graduated from "Twunt" and if you were ever a "Pre-Twunt"?

I don't think i can recall this specal "Twunt" collage your trying to describe either. O and welcome to the DL Captain of Industry!

Some are born into twuntness, some achieve twuntness, I on the other hand had twuntness thrust upon me. It was an honour bestowed on me by the all-powerful admin team on being the first to 'clock' 1000 posts. I was, for one glorious moment, a 'Twunt' on reaching the 1000, and have now settled into contented bliss as a post-twunt.
Tomb raider 9 Posted September 23, 2005 I'm not sure whether or not he's been mentioned before, but what about (former) Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg? He'll be 85 next january, his wife passed away this year and he looked extremely frail at her funeral. Continental royals don't tend to live as long as their British counterparts, so the Grand Duke is certainly one to consider for 2006. Couldn't find anything on him in the extensive DL-fora, and he would have been an unique pick at the DDP: he's not that obscure, having been the ruling monarch of Luxembourg for 35 years, is he? Lady Die 63 Posted September 23, 2005 In the 1987 list you included "any one Beatle". Can we include something like that in 2006 - e.g. "any one actor" or "any one politician"
Tomb raider 9 Posted September 23, 2005 Or, to be absolutely sure of at least one succes, the DL might predict "just any one"'s demise.

football_fan 42 Posted September 25, 2005 Most of them are good choices, but I would not include Osama Bin Laden, Fidel Castro, Pope Benedict, Jimmy Carter, F. Lee Bailey, or Jacque Chirac.
Windsor 2,233 Posted September 25, 2005 I would also remove Prince Philip. Perhaps replace him with...I don't know...King-Father Sihanouk of Cambodia.
sympathyforthedevil 11 Posted September 25, 2005 Most of them are good choices, but I would not include Osama Bin Laden, Fidel Castro, Pope Benedict, Jimmy Carter, F. Lee Bailey, or Jacque Chirac. Certainly not Bin Laden; his whereabouts are unknown (and likely to remain so), so if he dies, we will probably not find out about it. There is even the possibility that he is already dead and it has been covered up.
Guest IYG Posted September 26, 2005 I see that Conrad Bain who played the father on Diff'rent Strokes is 82 years old, could he be a candidate?
I see dead people 0 Posted September 26, 2005 Certainly not Bin Laden; his whereabouts are unknown (and likely to remain so), so if he dies, we will probably not find out about it. There is even the possibility that he is already dead and it has been covered up. This poses the question, what would happen if Bin Laden was put onto the 2006 list and had in fact been dead for years. Surely you cannot claim that as a hit for the year? This could also lead to influential people starting to hide bodies to ensure higher DL success in subsequent years.

Surely you cannot claim that as a hit for the year? I'm inclined to think that Bin Ladin may actually fall into the catagory such as Alouis Brunner Eichman's second hand man who is said to be dead but is probobly hidden by the goverment for obvious reasons. In my opinion Ossama Bin Ladin is alive and well. I feel he may have found more luxury then a cave at this point in time. Though we can never be sure.. It is probobly against the DL's rules having a canidate and not knowing there whereabouts, though Saddam Hussein "A different story" may be granted a future death penalty so while your waiting for Ossama that could give you just a bit to chew on.
