Yerteasoot 0 Posted October 15, 2005 Mine was made up on the spur of the moment. The phrase "Yer tea's oot" comes from the play 'Just a Boy's Game' from the late 70's starring Frankie Miller (hence the avatar). It seemed appropriate given we're looking for celebrities who's tea'll maybe be oot shortly.

weatherman90 7 Posted October 15, 2005 Pretty easy to see where my name is derived. Born in 1990, used to like weather alot. I had always wished that I had made it something more relevant and clever having to do with deaths. I don't know why but I still use weatherman90 wherever I register, it makes for alot of search results on google. I ought to think of something new to use wherever i go...but don't start conjuring up Manilow-related nicknames for me

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted October 15, 2005 My user name explained. How would a Dutchman pronounce your name Hein? Do you have to hoick anything up or is it as read? Good question. The 'ei' is a diphthong that English doesn't use. If you pronounce it as rhyming with 'fine', you're pretty close. The fact is that the dialects of Dutch spoken in Rotterdam and The Hague do exactly that. regards, Hein

(Which may sound appropriate for this forum, but whereas you're probably not a celebrity included on this year's list, there's nothing in it for us.)

BrunoBrimley 86 Posted October 16, 2005 As the unclaimed love child of Wilford Brimley I felt it was only proper and befitting to use his name in my member name. Growing up Uncle Wilfie (as he wished to be known) was quite close to me and always a doting gentleman giving me most anything I wanted (except a visit to Walter Cronkites Palace of Pleasure).. It was Uncle Wilfie that first let me know of my interest in men...uh, maybe I had best save that for another time. Anyway I always try to acknowledge the man who taught me the value of oatmeal baths. As for Bruno, it was what Uncle Wilfie's good friend Vladimir used to call me. (Which may sound appropriate for this forum, but whereas you're probably not a celebrity included on this year's list, there's nothing in it for us.) I have a pretty good idea how to say it - I know the "g" is pronounced "ch" as in "loch", but do you stress the "a" or the first "e"? Is it magere or magere? Tomb raider 9 Posted October 16, 2005 I have a pretty good idea how to say it - I know the "g" is pronounced "ch" as in "loch", but do you stress the "a" or the first "e"? Is it magere or magere? You stress the first syllable, as if it were a dactyl. By the way, I always presumed that the most accurate pronunciation for 'loch' would be something like 'lok' (it says so in my dictionary, for that matter). The more guttural 'loch' is Scottish, I presume? Thanks Hein, I'm more interested in the 'Skinny' rather than the 'Henry' as it were.Have I got that the right way around? And yes, 'magere' is dutch for 'skinny'.
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted October 16, 2005 I have a pretty good idea how to say it - I know the "g" is pronounced "ch" as in "loch", but do you stress the "a" or the first "e"? Is it magere or magere? The first syllable is stressed, the other two not. In terms of verse it's a dactyl. The a is a long vowel. Unfortunately English doesn't use that phoneme, but the "aaaargh" sound you make when you stub your toe comes very close. Both e's are schwa's. The g is indeed pronounced as in 'loch'. Scots should have no problem with rolling the r. Next lesson in this series: Dutch swearing in business and leasure. regards, Hein
