whilst this is rapidly becoming another one of DL's specialist discussions about nothing, I do agree with Godot's observations about crap threads, and have enjoyed his contributions thus far. I'd insert a lame joke here about "waiting" for his next post, but someone's probably already made that one. And Windsor will always be precious, which is just part of his charm.

I think on dullness Robert Robinson is beaten hands down by Phil Drabble, who incidentally is 92 in '06.

Then again, the suggestions for 2006 thread doesn't seem to be stemming the tide of people starting new person-specific threads whenever they want to suggest someone.

I can't let that pass. OMAHD was the height of excitement. The outrun, the drive and as for the shedding ring well... What could be better entertainment than watching old men whistling at sheep. You need to stay in more.

Look I wasn't saying they were all crap threads, just some of them. I don't waste my time on rubbish sites but I think this one has a certain style, so much so I have spent most of my off time this weekend creating my own "50" list for 2006. So far I have 51. I shouldn't have created so many new threads but I became obsessed and manic so went away. I think Valerie Singleton, by the way, is a good candidate for the living dead. I never liked her lipstick.

 

Also, I don't want to stir things as a newcomer but there is a discernible clique on this site and cliques should always be resisted. I suppose that's stirring things. Sorry.

not really a clique thing going around here go-dot its more a matter of how you present humor seems to go a good distance here but theres also the matter of people getting to know you getting to know all about you

Welcome Godot, I joined for much the same reason. I know what you mean with regard the clique, it's similar feeling to when I first joined the Garrick back in '22.

 

Stick with it though, they are a witty and diverse bunch. And remember people are dying to get on here.

I have a theory that to be named here, particularly among the living dead, should be considered quite an honour. At least it means that someone is thinking about them. Simon Dee, for instance has been in the LD for years and probably has quite some time to go. As does Peter Purves. It would be awful if you were to just pass on, like Peter Glaze (crackerjack) for example, without anyone noticing. What was the point of Peter Glaze?

I never noticed any cliques... I just sit here and rant about death and, to distinguish myself from the guests, I try to make a rational point or two.

 

Obviously the people who know each other longer are more warm to each other of course, but I wouldn't call that a clique.
